European MTB Masters Champs in Kranjska Gora, Volume 3

Kranjska Gora, SLOVENIA – For the second time in a row and third time all-together Kranjska Gora will host European Mountain Bike Masters Championships. Again the competition will take place in both downhill and cross-country and again all of the riders and their companions will enjoy the scenery and friendliness of this extraordinary piece of Alps. Championships will take place on June 22nd-24th.
Kranjska Gora is one of the leading Slovenian cycling centres with premium MTB park and lots of options for mountain and road cycling. Bike park on the slopes of Mount Vitranc will again host the championships in both disciplines. Downhill riders will go through the park trails and some purpose built sections and despite some modifications the course will remain close to one from 2009 European Championships. XC track was first introduced two years ago for the national race and then used again last year for the Masters Championships – again it follows the lines of the bike park and custom built sections. It is challenging and fun, a combination that majority of riders liked in the previous events. All riders and all visitors will be able to take the full advantage of their visit in Slovenia and ride all the new sections of the bike park in the days before the event, while on the race weekend the park will remain closed.
The biggest and most noticeable change is the “refreshment” of the schedule. The downhill race will now take place on Saturday (with seeding run on Friday) and the cross-country event will be held on Sunday. This change followed the wishes of the riders and it also allows the organizers to fit the whole event better in the programme that will take place in Kranjska Gora on that weekend. Kranjska Gora is ready again to welcome riders from all over Europe – riders from other countries which are not members of European Cycling Union are also welcome to take part but their names will not appear in the official results.

See you in Slovenia in June!
