Love that Shimano are sticking with Micro Spline for the entry level group, instead of doing what SRAM did with the NX Eagle cassette (ditching XD driver and going with a reduced range cassette on the old Shimano style freehub driver). What this means is that there is...more

I like it because it doesn't look like a 260 dollar helmet. Not that I'll be getting one regardless.

Revel Rail - Paddy Wagon

How do you like the suspension. Seems to have a real interesting take compared to some other options and could combine quite a few nice qualities into one package? I doubt I"ll get a chance to demo one so what's your take?

a rigid mtb is gonna cost you north of a grand these days and probably has a much cheaper build then you’d expect

Especially in the budget category. A 900 dollar road bike is a lot closer to a 2 or 3 k bike then On the mountain side. And a 500 dollar road bike is useable for what it’s meant for while a 500 dollar mtb is destined for a dumpster.

27.5 is more nimbly and 29ers are more stable. Both on ground and in the air in my opinion. I don't really have an issue jumping 29 unless the jumps have an intense radius more meant for bmx bikes. There are a lot of good bikes in that price range. Personally ... more »

Personally I have my external going under the down tube then up the seat tube using my water bottle holder for to tie the cable. It looks pretty clean in my opinion.

Plenty of demand. I'd say less popular than 29 for sure but the field at my local enduros is split close to 50/50.

If this bike is succesful you'll see a 27.5 version. I just hope they don't pull a YT and creep their prices up after the first couple years.

The PR has been updated to reflect the wheel size more clearly.

I think it's a wise decision on Privateer's part from a number of perspectives. It's a race bike, first and foremost. They are also giving the majority of riders the wheel size that's most popular in their size. The company can...more

It will be state by state/country by country. A few may choose to remain closed if regulations allow them to open but most will be compelled to reopen to serve customers and staff. Also many parks allow riding with lift closed. It’s just a matter of ... more »

I’d get a used hardtail. The pedaling efficiency will vastly outweigh the benefits of a low end sus bike. Plus a better fork will benefit those old bones far more than some travel in the rear. Also while I personally am not super into it. Plus or fat ... more »

I’d be real happy with Shimano zee. That’s what’s on my throttle! 10 speed is already 9 speeds too many.

Added reply in a thread MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation 4/30/2020 2:59 AM

They are also expensive. Maybe not so much compared to xtr or x01 but considering manufacturers would have to use a completely different frame design to hit most price points it’s unlikely they’ll become mass market until they are cheaper or the demand ... more »
