At the risk of sounding like a complete jerk, why the Hell they doing this in front nobody on Thursday afternoon instead of Saturday or Sunday when the crowds are present to cheer for Stevie? That doesn't seem right to me.

I'm with you, I agree it's a real shame that it's done before the crowds are out. I guess the problem is that on Saturday and Sunday, it will distract riders' and teams concentration as well as additional take time and energy. This is racing at the highest level, with millions of pounds invested from companies and sponsors so it has to take a completely professional approach. I'm guessing the man himself will be watching down and wanting the racers battling out at their maximum - it's shaping up to be an epic race that's for sure!

Well I take it back. UCI had a very fitting memorial today in what would have been Stevie's protected run.
