2024 Specialized Epic EVO 8 Pro Bike
Overall Review
Historically, Vital doesn't do cross country. We dabble here or there, but our passion is gravity-fueled mountain biking. When Specialized reached out at the end of last year about a new mountain bike on the horizon, I assumed it was for the new Stumpjumper (we all know it's coming soon). But lo and behold, it was for the Epic. Having always kept my knowledge of the XC world at arm's length, I knew the Epic had helped steer the evolution of XC racing, that it had a rear shock with a mind of its own, and that there was a more capable, fun-loving EVO variant. Upon hearing that the EVO was...

Specialized Cannibal GRID GRAVITY T9 Tire
The Good

Grips in nearly any condition and to most surfaces Outlasts MaxxGrip by a long shot

The Bad

The company's culture I suppose? No fault of the actual product I know of!

Overall Review
I've gone from Assegais to Butchers and haven't really looked back, but the Cannibal took it a notch further. I'm a big fan of the T9 compound and believe it's a solid challenger to MaxxGrip. Maybe lagging a little around 0°C and below but still providing excellent grip on wet slab and snow covered wood. Wears a lot slower and rolls bit faster than Maxxgrip and is equally predictable. Hard to judge the tread itself. Comparison with the Butcher leaves little to be desired from either option, though the Cannibal may seem just a touch more confidence inspiring, but I'll need more back to back...

2022 Specialized Turbo Kenevo SL Comp E-Bike
The Good

Bike rides great, suspension kinematic is amazing. Weight is perfect. Great for riding with non e-Bikes as well as other e-Bike riders.

The Bad

Several issues including a failed remote, stripped hub, motor/crank play in the BB. Bent a crank arm, my fault completely but you have to replace it with their crank arm, not compatible with any others on the market.

Overall Review
I love this bike, I take to the Bike Park and ride it hard. It's great on Double Black and Big Jump lines. Its light enough that riding super steep terrain and rollers feels normal (heavier ebikes get outta sorts with all the weight and gravity pulling on all the LBs). The only changes I made are putting Magura brakes on it (but I do that will all my bikes) and swapping on some Maxxis tires. It makes climbing up for the next lap a joy and it makes impossible (for me) climbs doable. You get the incredible freedom of an eBike and the feel of a "normal" bike.
