2015 Intense M16 Pro
Vital Review
Overall Review
Review by Fred Robinson // Photos by Matt Puzel Right as lift season started, we were lucky enough to get our hands on Intense's latest addition to the M-Series Downhill Race machines, the M16. In the evolution of arguably the most iconic line of Downhill bikes, the new M16 sees a few changes over the previous flagship M9. Most obvious is the introduction of 27.5” wheels, in addition to some minor tweaking of the suspension and geometry. Gone is the adjustable wheelbase and head-angle of the M9, but Intense kept the travel and progression options in place allowing either 8.5 or 9.5 inches of...

2015 Intense Spider 275 Pro
Vital Review
Overall Review
Reviewed by AJ Barlas and Dylan Stucki // Photos by Lear Miller When the original VPP-equipped Intense Cycles Spider debuted in 2003 it was a bred for the cross country racer with speed and weight as top priority. Over the next decade it morphed into a marathon style trail bike with a penchant for pounding out the miles, and eventually a 29-inch option was born. Today the Temecula, California based brand is proud to release their latest in the long line of handcrafted Spider frames. The new Spider 275 maintains an adjustable 115/130mm of rear travel while becoming even more capable with...

Guerrilla Gravity BFC Cog
Vital Review
Overall Review
by Kevin Shiramizu // Photos by Dave Trumpore When I started riding, everything was 8-speed and it worked pretty well. Then came 9-speed. Then came 10-speed. And yet all this time there was still a pesky thing in the way called the front derailleur. When I was younger and more spry, I would just hammer through on 1x8, 1x9, and 1x10 set ups. Now I’m a little older, a little more tired, and have to spend my money on things like paying off student loans for a useless degree and rent so the current crop of 1x11 options that work amazingly well are just out of my practical grasp. So I had high...

Guerrilla Gravity Megatrail (2014) Frame
Vital Review
Overall Review
by Dave Trumpore We recently had a chance to visit the folks at Guerrilla Gravity in Denver, Colorado for a tour of the shop and to take a look at their newest trail bike project, the Megatrail. In a day and age where most manufacturing, welding, and assembly happens far overseas, it was quite refreshing to see the inner workings of a more homegrown operation right here in our backyard. Guerrilla Gravity truly keeps it local by doing all of the work in house. The only exception being the CNC bits that are contracted out, but even those are produced just down the road. While I toured the shop...

2014 Intense 951 EVO
Vital Review
Overall Review
by Sean “Griz” McClendon Originally introduced in late 2009, the 26-inch Intense Cycles 951 went from experiment to success story with its World Cup influenced geometry, lean chassis and active suspension performance. Unlike the grounded feel of the M6, the 951 spent less time on the dirt and more in the air. The common consensus was the 951 was not a World Cup race bike, rather a fun park bike that could be pressed into race duty at National caliber tracks like Port Angeles. Then we saw the 2013 world elite DH race season close with contenders testing and even racing on 27.5-inch wheels...
