Good Affordable All Around Crankset
Rating:
The Good
Priced right, light weight for the material, race proven, multiple BB options
The Bad
Can't think of anything
Overall Review:

I bought these for an Intense Tracer build. In short, they worked great, mine came with thread in BB which held up fine with no issues.  I did trail riding, All Mountain and DH with this bike and these cranks.  Highly recommend for mid level crankset.

Rating:
The Good
Simple, relatively light weight compared to other non-carbon downhill cranks, stiff, tough
The Bad
The paint wears off after while
Overall Review:

Really great crank from Truvativ. If their World Cup Team riders ride these, they must be good. I ride them on my Morewood Makulu and they really make the bike. You barely notice them - they just do their job. Dont know if it was just me, but I had to take the BB apart and clean in the first two weeks to stop an annoying creek, but once put back together I have had absolutely no trouble. Another thing I noticed is that because they have a flat outside surface with no ribs, your ankles rarely get hit or hurt. Overall, a reliable, strong, lightweight crank worthy of any build.

Miscellaneous
Descended from BlackBox technology, brings to the masses the crank used by 2009 World Champion Steve Peat. Truvativ’s downhill-race specific crank uses the same forged AL7050 material as in the freeride/DH Holzfeller, but in a second-shaving 822g package (that’s 240g less than the Holzfeller OCT). When your eye is on the podium, there is no room for compromise – that’s why the Descendant comes with the totally revamped GXP bottom bracket with Gutter Seal Technology.
