Day 2 is where Jamie Nicoll pounced. Taking the win on the day after four of the most challenging stages. Perfect conditions for his strong, stubborn, wild man style. He ended up winning the overall race with just one stage win. -Sven Martin
Custom fern jersey for Jerome's NZ racing to match the Lord of the Rings background. He took the win on Day 3 and tied (again) with Damien Oton on the jewel Stage 2. Many different styles and surfaces of tracks here. Jerome with a clean sweep and three stage wins as he tried hard to try catch Jamie Nicoll. -Sven Martin
Liaison from Stage 1 to Stage 2 on Day 2. Duncan Bay to Nydia Bay. -Sven Martin
We passed this guy on liaison between Stage 3 and 4 on Day 2. No outside assistance #soenduro. Coincidently we had venison burgers that day for lunch. -Sven Martin
Anne Caroline was simply dominant. Winning every stage convincingly is a sure sign she's ready for battle heading into Rotorua EWS. -Sven Martin
Tracy Moseley made up time on Day 2 and 3 after a slower Day 1 start. She finished 2nd behind Anne Caroline this weekend. -Sven Martin
Day 2 started off with a narrow bridal track made by old goldminers. Plenty of roots, rock, vines and off-camber and an ever present drop-off was the order of the day. This is the stage where Jerome Clementz crashed 6m down the bank. -Sven Martin
Damien Oton is a beast; winning some stages this weekend and flying where others play it safe. He and Jerome were close all weekend, both with off-track excursions and 4 ties with ! -Sven Martin
Anja Macdonald, took the amateur women's title winning every stage in her class. Her husband Tristan won the amateur men's title, too. Not bad for a pair of full-time DOC workers. -Sven Martin
Day 2, Stage 2 had sneaky obstacles all over the track. -Sven Martin
Day 2, Stage 1. Heels down for lots of fun. -Sven Martin
The saddle before Stage 3 of Day 2. This tiny clearing was the site of two heli extraction evacuations, broken ankle and broken wrist. -Sven Martin
Ahhhh Day 3. Wakamarina trail, the jewel of the three days. #artofflight -Sven Martin
Dropping into Stage 1 of Day 3 on Wakamarina is Nick Crocker, who puts on the other "best race in the world," the Dodzy Memorial on the other side of Nelson. -Sven Martin

Can't resist an insta moment. Two helicopters shuttled up six riders a time bringing around 140 racers, staff, rescue and media to the top of a small clearing. Went off without a hitch. -Sven Martin

Chris Ball, riding blind and under-gunned, executes a last minute #doyouevenmanualbro to make the tricky and blind drop on Stage 2 today. Others were not as successful. -Sven Martin
Damien Oton tucking around blind trees to share the stage win with Jerome on 2. Impressive feat considering he rode it blind while a few other riders managed a pre-ride here before. -Sven Martin
A hot and happy Jamie Nicoll after taking the win in the inaugural NZ Enduro. Well-done, well-deserved. -Sven Martin
Category winners with race organizer Ian Goldschmidt. Jamie, Anne, Tristan and Anja. It's been an incredible weekend of racing and comradery. See you in 2016! -Sven Martin

Description
The NZ Enduro concluded with 2 days of incredible, naturally raw stages in Nydia Bay and and a classic helicopter shuttle in Wakamarina.

Day 2: Nydia track, 4 Stages

After a shuttle drop off, riders set out for an unforgettable day on the bike. It doesn't feel like a race, more like a point-to-point adventure ride.

The first stage was down an old bridal track used by goldminers long ago. Vines, roots rocks, ferns and a narrow bench-cut trail. Jerome Clementz shot off track losing a lot of time to Jamie and Damien.

Stage 2 followed an hour-long liason along Duncan Bay up to Nydia Saddle. A super tech south-facing descent littered with mossy rocks roots, washouts really challenged the riders considering it was 100% blind. Few would believe that nearly 100% of the trail is ridable. Not your average race stage.

After a lunch of fresh tuna and venison burgers at On The Track Lodge, riders set off on another hour-long liason climb. The 3rd stage claimed many riders with sections no one would ever expect to see on an enduro race stage. Trials DH? Maybe. This time it was Damien Oton who went down losing time. Stage 4 was sweet and fast ending the most technical day of the race.

Day 3: Wakamarina Heli Shuttle

Perfect weather despite cyclone Pam approaching. 120 riders shuttled up to the top of Wakamarina Track by two helicopters. Stage 2 was the riders' all-time favorite race stage featuring old-growth Beech forest littered with roots and a supremely-flowy, fast trail with great ferny switchbacks mid-run. The day ended with a swim in the river and plenty of high fives and helicopter selfies. Jerome proved something by winning all the stages but Jamie took the overall as the best rider over all three days.

Some NZ Enduro Facts

- 3 days racing

- 8 stages total

- Jerome won 5 stages

- Damien Oton won 4 stages

- Joann Barelli won 2 stages

- Jamie Nicoll won 1 stage

- Timing to the second (not millisecond) with the rider-operated timing dongles.

- How do the stage wins add up if there were only 8 stages? Damien and Jerome tied 4 times. Insane!
