View as: Slideshow | One Page
Jared Graves attacked, attacked some more and then rode smart. Despite being tempted by the clean sweep (which no Pro EWS male has nabbed yet), he rode conservatively in the last stage to seal the win. Still a 40-second margin despite finishing 20 seconds back on stage six. -Sven Martin
It doesn't matter if Cecile doesn't like a stage because she thinks it doesn't suit her. She still took the win of stage four and EVERY stage this weekend. Two clean sweeps in back-to-back EWS races from the aggressive, stylish French rider. Stage four. -Sven Martin
Adrien Dailly took yet another win in the under-21 category, with a time that would have landed him in the Top 20 in elite. -Lee Trumpore
Nico Lau with a solid second from a diverse range of conditions. High-speed, rough, fresh-cut, bike park, long, short, flat and steep; he conquered all. Bravo. -Sven Martin
Anita Gehrig just missed out on the podium in La Thuile which gave her the extra legs and desire to jump straight into 2nd this week. -Sven Martin
Surprise! -Sven Martin
Jerome Clementz, in another classic custom jersey, fought hard today and rode fast and clean into 3rd place and the final spot on the podium. -Sven Martin
Isabeau Courdurier lost a bit of time today but held on to the the final podium spot in 3rd. -Lee Trumpore
Richie Rude despite a battered shoulder, powered to 3rd place on the physical stage four today in the rain. Finishing 25th overall, he earned 200 valuable series points. -Sven Martin
After riding a flat to the end of stage 3 yesterday and thoroughly destroying his rim, Toni Ferrerio opted to zip-tie his tire and wheel together rather than take a 5 minute penalty. It held all day, and he salvaged enough points to keep his Top 20 in the overall standings. -Lee Trumpore
We're guessing to see a knock-off version of these by Eurobike as the new must-have enduro accessory. Toni gets 98.29% of all sales if anyone is pondering. -Lee Trumpore
Martin Maes rode consistently this weekend and his confidence after his injury is now back for the attack. A little slower today put him back to fourth just barely. -Sven Martin
Casey Brown outran the thunderstorms and most of the women's field to finish in 4th overall. -Lee Trumpore
Curtis Keene loose, fast aggressive and throwing down the power nice and early where others were still on the brakes. Top five and headed to Whistler where he has gone even better before. -Sven Martin
Florian Nicolai wasn't loving the slippery Colorado soil, but a 5th on the final stage moved the Frenchman up to 13th overall. However, he dropped to 4th in the series standings behind Jerome Clementz. -Lee Trumpore
Mathew Stuttard gets some major bragging rights for taking the win on Stage 6 down the former national DH track. -Lee Trumpore
Blenki can really let it loose when he chooses. He was going for the stage 6 win but missed out by one second. -Sven Martin
No go-around and an unrollable drop followed by a loose, sketchy, steep setup turn always meant there was going to be carnage in the waterfall section. This was the site of a major course hold which ultimately canceled Women's stage 6. -Sven Martin
Cody Kelley has really come into his own this week. Is it familiar dirt, the new bike or just confident eat home? Whatever it is it allowed him to lean the lowest on his cornering this week. -Sven Martin
8th place for Jesse Melamed who, despite his young age, is actually the senior on the team. Can he crack a podium in whistler? We think so, but don't want to say it here and jinx him. -Sven Martin
#praysomemore4dun -Lee Trumpore
After a podium last round in La Thuile, Andreane Lanthier Nadeau struggled a bit with the terrain and altitude here in Aspen finishing in 11th place. -Lee Trumpore
McKay Vezina is a fresh face on the EWS circuit and really turned some heads in La Thuile until a flat tire ruined his weekend. No such problems this weekend as he bagged his first Top 20. -Lee Trumpore
Chris Johnston had an amazing start to the weekend before disaster struck on Stage 3. He clawed back heaps of time today and moved from 39th to 27th. -Lee Trumpore
Anne Galyean finished all her stages in the Top 10 today to move herself up to 10th overall. -Lee Trumpore
EWS events all around the world are all about traveling with or meeting up with friends old and new...and a perfect excuse for a Bachelor party for RockShox's Jon Cancellier. I think there will be more than a few out of office replies for Monday's emails. -Sven Martin
Mitch Ropelato hucking his way to two Top 10 stage fnishes and 15th overall. -Lee Trumpore
Oton had to tone it back a little today to get his wheel to the finish line after yesterday's crash. Still, a 7th place finish has him with in range of an overall championship finish. -Sven Martin
Iago Garay thundering his way through the flowers on Stage 5. -Lee Trumpore
Richie Rude was on damage control this weekend, but his sore shoulder didn't seem to hurt his horsepower one bit. He took 3rd on the physical 17-minute Stage 4 and he never even practiced it. -Lee Trumpore
The hardest man on the mountain award this weekend goes to Toni Ferreiro... -Lee Trumpore
The Swiss Gehrig Twins; Anita and Caro have both really stepped it up this year. -Sven Martin
Probably the best cornerer in all of EWS. It just wasn't steep enough or long enough for Florian Nicolai to truly shine. -Sven Martin
Rely Absalon with is best EWS result; 6th place after winning the Megavalanche will make this Frenchman happy. -Sven Martin
Start of the long stage four early this morning. -Sven Martin
Sebastien Claquin riding to a strong U21 2nd place despite a dislocated finger from the Thursday night rodeo. -Sven Martin
Chris Boice, ust because! -Sven Martin
Anneke Beerten under the moody skies that resulted in a lift closure an hour later from lightning strikes. Top of stage four. -Sven Martin
Josh Carlson brought it back today with a 5th and a 3rd earning him a Top 10 overall. -Sven Martin
Stage four saw some riders opting for light tires, firm suspension and XC helmets. Mark Scott perfect turning technique. -Sven Martin
Keene looking like the American dream this weekend. Welcome back! -Sven Martin
Yoann Barelli had an off weekend (by his standards) here in Colorado. It happens sometimes. I'm sure it will be a different in Whistler where he can ride like no one else judging by some of his crazy videos. -Sven Martin
I sit alone in the press room filing this report because my co-worker, Lee, has more pressing business to attend to. Uh, Lee, this isn't Taipei or Germany. The drinking age is 21 years old, not 21 weeks :) -Sven Martin
Thanks Colorado for a great weekend of racing at altitude! -Sven Martin - Vital thanks Sven and Lee for the action and interviews from the Rocky Mountains!
