The Red Bull Rampage is the pinnacle of freeride events, which is why Fox Racing decided to do things right with some custom gear for their top riders. I've had the pleasure of trying on one of those Rampage Pro's at the shop that I work at....
All of the staff ordered one on the spot, they're that good.

trying a helmet on doesn't say anything about how well it performs or how "good" it is.

Sorry, let's rephrase that. It fits spectacularly, fox has an impeccable brand record and I've used many of their products, helmets included, and sold many to very to happy customers. The helmets history underscores its performance, and it's fit and features contribute to making it a great product.
