Intro Text

Eight stages, epic trails in a diverse array of conditions are what Enduro World Series racers will face at the 3rd event of 2019 which lands on the island paradise of Madeira, Portugal. Known for producing trails worthy of world class video parts, Madeira's riding is second to none with breathtaking ocean views around every corner...not a bad place for a race or a holiday. Sven Martin and @maddogboris check in from this picture-postcard venue.

This is your tax into the Enduro World Series slideshow. Internet vs Reality when you see those glossy bike checks (or butt cheeks). -Sven Martin
Keegan started off practice yesterday looking like this, tricky to hold it wide open without consequence. -Sven Martin
Oh. Consequence. Keegan had a big crash and a scare yesterday. A visit to the hospital cleared him of any fractures or internal injuries and he was out on the course today albeit in a lot of pain. -Sven Martin
When you are Randy, everyone wants a piece of you no matter how risky the shot. -Sven Martin
The classic EWS Madeira cliff shot...featuring Remi Gauvin. @maddogboris
Fresh lid for your series leader. -Sven Martin
Man down! Luckily there was so much dust, it must have felt like hitting his head on a pillow. @maddogboris
Bermkicker Eddie Masters! @maddogboris
Yes, I was freaking dusty after this, but it was worth it! @maddogboris
One corner and 65243 different angles...kind of. Not sure if there is much left of this berm for the race. @maddogboris
Young blood keeping the sport fast and loose. Daniel Self, Brady Stone and Nick Bean. -Sven Martin
Looking East to the tip of the Island from the top of stage one. -Sven Martin
Cody Kelley talks us through the ABC's of the frame tangle-upper. -Sven Martin
@maddogboris on the extended media recce earlier in the week. Powder carves and cliff edges as Brendan Fairclough talks. Boris' steeze was basically equal to anything Brendan has done, so it worked out. -Sven Martin
ALN on stage two; an historic 600-year-old track linking two villages. Machico was the first town settled in Madeira. It's natural, rocky and awkward and a flat here will cost you the race. -Sven Martin
I think the less predictable, tricky terrain will suit Mark Scott better than the first two rounds. Stage three. -Sven Martin
Lachlan Blair boosting between two blown-up corners on stage one. The race village can be seen in the corner of the beach by the harbor. -Sven Martin
Why bother with walls when you can soak it all in. Not a bad office for the RockShox crew. -Sven Martin
Iago #pullupnotout
Wyn keeping track of the energy drink consumption in the pits this weekend. Business casual as per usual from the barefoot Kiwi. -Sven Martin
Martha Gill committed, still clipped and gripped #igotthis -Sven Martin
EWS Madeira preparation with the Vanzacs in Sintra, Portugal. @maddogboris
Cecile Ravanel can't sit still. Supporting, spectating, managing and rehabbing all within a quick paddle of the finish line and podium. -Sven Martin
Martha showing the guys how to send the jumps on Loic Bruni's Gamble Line. -Sven Martin
Mechanics arent allowed to drink heavy alcohol while working on bikes. @maddogboris
Matt Walker with the Schleyble for the retired Canadians on the cruise ship. -Sven Martin
Martin Maes dipped and tipped. Speed and Style for the newly winged Belgium racer. -Sven Martin
Ella Conolly with some big lines in the trickiest part of the stage six. -Sven Martin
A goat and Remi. It feels like stage eight was prepped mostly by goats and a digger for some jumps and berms. -Sven Martin
Antoine Vidal is your current Junior leader and is working on his English for all his upcoming Vital interviews in his near future. #stocked (yes, #stocked) -Sven Martin
Morgane Jonnier sending it over the local vegetarian garden to the beach at the end of the final stage eight. -Sven Martin
If you visit Madeira ,the hot tip is to go West and visit the iconic Maktub bar for the best fish and cocktails you will ever have anywhere. Sven, Anka and Boris, when in Rome. -Sven Martin
The capital of Funchal, home to one of Europe's most dangerous airport landings. We chose to arrive by boat. -Sven Martin
John Fernandez and his team from Freeride Madeira have really put Madeira on the map for all types of riding, and now racing. Their love and passion for the Island and trails shows. -Sven Martin
Bex Barona sliding into stage one! -Sven Martin
#VANZACS @maddogboris
Dave McMillan laying one over where most fail to even leave the ground. -Sven Martin
Rae Morrison drops to the ocean on stage two. -Sven Martin
A bigger wheel than normal under the Giant riders. Josh Carlson rails a cliffside turn on stage two. -Sven Martin
Cole Lucas scrubbing off the road into a sketchy stage 3/8. It's smooth and greasy. Looks are very deceiving. -Sven Martin
Watch out for local Emanuel Pombo! Put him on your fantasy team for this weekend while you still can, he's beaten the best on his home trails. -Sven Martin
Miranda Miller on the top part of stage 3/8 -Sven Martin
Florian Nicolai currently sitting in second position overall. He is looking confident and ready for the race days. @maddogboris
Smashing berms on Loic's Gamble Line. That;s how every morning should start. @maddogboris
More Gamble Line... @maddogboris
Anita Gehrig fully focused in her new flashy race kit! @maddogboris
Youn Deniaud showing everyone how it's done! @maddogboris
Sam Shaw rocking the mullet...and to be honest, I'm jealous. Should I get one and see what happens on my tinder date waiting at home? @maddogboris
Morgane Charre had a bit of bad luck in Tasmania. Pretty sure she wants to be back on the podium. @maddogboris
Robin Wallner, the pinned and super nice Swede! After fully roosting me, he even turned around to see if I was ok. @maddogboris
Eddie and his "AntiEnduroTweak"! If don't follow Eddie and the rest of the crew yet...DO IT NOW. @maddogboris
Dan Wolfe scrubbing his way through the flowers...or grass corners full of big, bad rocks. @maddogboris
Morning Light and grippy tires! @maddogboris
Greg Callaghan had a bad crash before the race will watch his first EWS from the sidelines. @maddogboris
Cedric Ravanel is racing this week in Madeira. It's not enough to manage the team and take care of his injured wife Cecile, we guess. @maddogboris
Intense shredder Isabeau Courdurier! She looks better on these rough tracks than a lot of guys...seriously! @maddogboris
Wheeeeehey. We on a boat. -Sven Martin
Fast corners and sea views for a bit of holiday feeling. @maddogboris
Shawn Neer knows how to get around these tricky, tight, rocky switchbacks. He also roasts good coffee and can put electricity in your house. @maddogboris
Miranda Miller leaning in and getting close.
Frenchman, Kevin Miquel, is always ready to deliver. @maddogboris
Look who's enjoying a massage. @maddogboris
First riders on track = early morning corner explosions. @maddogboris
Imagine how it feels to ask Sam Hill to drift a corner, he does it, and you shoot the wrong corner? Or maybe the 29er won't let him drift? Yeah, that's it. #samdriftedacornerandthatsalligot @maddogboris
Adrien Dailly looking fast and strong after his injury!
