That right there is how you win an EWS. A big crash on Stage 5 here only cost Richie a few spots. He pushed on a bit harder towards the bottom to end the day with another 1st place. -Sven Martin
Richie the aggressor. -Sven Martin
One second after the chips were in a smile almost cracks on Richie's face. Almost -Sven Martin
Cecile dropping into the final stretch on the final stage on Easter Sunday. -Sven Martin
Martin Maes, technically still an EWS U21 if he chose to be, smashing the final hook-up rut on Stage 5. He rode with consistency this weekend instead of his past hot/cold performance and ended up in 2nd. The kids are comin' up. -Sven Martin
Wheeeeee! Good Times. -Sven Martin
Anneke Beerten, 2nd place with two stage wins along the way. It looks to be a battle with Cecile all year long. -Sven Martin
Adrien Dailly Scandi-flicking his way down the last section of Stage 5. He brought back a big deficit in the Juniors to take the overall win today. -Sven Martin
Nico the Alien still taking scalps. 3rd place for the French legend. (Rude and Maes combined age nearly equals Nico's) -Sven Martin
Isabeau Courdurier with a great start and 3rd place on her new team. -Sven Martin
This was a common sight on Stage 5 no matter what class or category. -Sven Martin
So much that can go wrong out there when you ride freshly cut trails in the jungle. Chain problems in Stage 5 and 6 lost Graves a lot of time but he still salvaged a Top 10 to keep him in the running for the series. -Sven Martin
Graves still has time to chat after hiking back up Stage 5 to find his chain. -Sven Martin
Despite finishing just off the box in 4th, Jerome is faster and hungrier than last year. Letting it all hang out on the tracks all week long. -Sven Martin
Jerome and Rude, some class acts there. Fist bumps after the final stage with some #lightbro -Sven Martin
Florian Nicolai is probably the best steep switchback rider in the world right now. After media recon on Wednesday, I called him to win stage five with the steeps. He didn't let me down and took the win there and 5th for the weekend. -Sven Martin
Anita Gehrig on the final Stage 6, on to her best EWS result with a 5th place. -Sven Martin
Kyle Warner shredding the awesome Stage 4. Such good dirt allowed riders to really hang it out in their race runs. -Sven Martin
Blenki slotting into the log ruts of Stage 4. -Sven Martin
Theo Galy rode with new-found confidence and into his first ever EWS Top 10. -Sven Martin
Luke Strobel with a 31st. Not a bad first EWS result for the full-time "office boy" of Evil Bikes. Same ocean as near home, just a few thousand miles south. Stage 5. -Sven Martin
Frother Carlson is such a solid and planted rider. 11th for the weekend. -Sven Martin
Giant team always full of smiles and laughs. -Sven Martin
Yoann Barelli always has a funny story. Not sure if the fun finds him or he just makes every situation enjoyable. Right in the mix for the podium until the very end. Wrong side of the bubble dropped him to 6th. -Sven Martin
CTM crew from Chile are legendary. -Sven Martin
Believe. -Sven Martin
Fastest "downhiller" at the EWS went to Spanish pinner, Toni Ferreiro with a 12th despite catching and passing riders due to a low number. Lewis Buchanan was next with a 13th in his first outing. -Sven Martin
Rae Morrison with a solid 6th. -Sven Martin
Damien Oton is a pleasure to watch. The rougher it gets, the more he likes it. Crossing ruts on the bottom of Stage 6. -Sven Martin
The results start dropping. Martin with a sigh of relief and Barelli congratulating Jerome. -Sven Martin
Nico's chip gets read. -Sven Martin
Never forget the trail builders. Thanks guys! Your hard work was much appreciated and enjoyed by all. -Sven Martin
Some beautiful trophies here. -Sven Martin
Beers not champagne for these tough girls. We'll see you in Argentina in a few days for Round 2. -Sven Martin

Description

There was no shortage of drama and excitement at the first round of the 2016 Enduro World Series in Corral, Chile. Competitors rode nearly 100 kilometers with over 30-minutes of timed racing across six stages and two days. Forest fires, hot weather and the occasional cow on the trail or fan-filled car rolling off the mountain during liaison was just par for the course. Sven Martin delivers the visuals with candid audio interviews from racers and mechanics.
