Isabeau Courdurier said it best when describing the Manizales, Colombia, EWS conditions compared to last week's conditions in Chile. "We've gone from the moon to the jungle." Marco Osborne commented on the culture adding that the rules in Colombia are more like suggestions. A new venue and new challenges as the EWS landes in Manizales, Colombia, home to Marcelo Gutierrez, for round 2 of the 2018 season. Enjoy the pre-race slipping, sliding and horse dodging thanks to Sven Martin and @maddogboris.

Marcelo and Rafael (not in pictured) Gutierrez couldn't be happier and more proud to welcome everybody to their hometown. Welcome to Manizales, Colombia. @maddogboris
Marcelo Gutierrez has more runs on these hills than anyone else here racing. Will the one run practice format for the rest make him unbeatable or will the mud and ruts change it all up enough to level the playing fields? -Sven Martin
These events need passionate people. There are few more passionate than Jorge Mario Jaramillo or "Chiguiro." It was his dream to bring the EWS to Manizales and he couldn't be more proud. -Sven Martin
What a treat! A ride was put on by the race organizers to show us a bit more of the area away from the race site. Some of coolest shuttle buses around! Marcelo discusses urban bike set-up in the audio. -Sven Martin
Sam Hill! Loamy, technical and fast tracks built for the Australian. The grease just means that flat pedals are all that more advantageous, too! @maddogboris
No matter how wet and muddy a track a might be, you can count on Josh Bryceland to throw some steeze! Fun fact: even though he was on flat pedals, he hardly took a foot out. @maddogboris
Foot-out, flat-out for Jared Graves! @maddogboris
Martin Maes on the liaison to stage five. Sadly he will not be racing this weekend after a gnarly crash on stage six where he disclocated his shoulder. The crash is embedded below this slideshow. He was one of my faves for the win. -Sven Martin
Gutted for Martin. @maddogboris
Rolling deep with police escort. (Not for safety) but for VIP traffic control. Well done, Manizales. -Sven Martin
Created by local music and local dignitaries. -Sven Martin
Isabeau loving the loam after the dust of Chile. -Sven Martin
Marco Osborne at warp speed. -Sven Martin
Wyn Masters wheely having fun in the colombian mud. @maddogboris
Cecile Ravanel feeling a little under the weather today but still smashing it as usual. -Sven Martin
Mandatory Iago style on stage two where others are struggling to stay on track. <br />
-Sven Martin
Feet-up drifting slide around a left hand turn. Americans do this well. Mitch Ropelato is MTB's version of NASCAR. -Sven Martin
Martin Maes on stage five absolutely flying. Heal up, MM! -Sven Martin
There was on-and-off rain all day today making it tough out there. -Sven Martin
Matt Koen is a young fast USA junior in his first year racing EWS full time. Lots of promise in this young shredder. -Sven Martin
Eddie Masters, G-Out Project. -Sven Martin
Greg Callaghan with the clearest lenses ever! He's stoked and hungry for a podium here in Manizales! @maddogboris
Joe Nation sending it on stage seven, which has the most pedaling. A short stage that could actually cost some riders the race. -Sven Martin
The Coffee Plantation trails were a treat for all on Wednesday. Playing tourists on bikes with no clocks is a welcome relief. -Sven Martin
Huck-to-muddy-boggy-compression-to-OTB for Adrien Dailly. -Sven Martin
Squids down. -Sven Martin
Damien Oton was looking pinned and comfortable in today's mudfest. @maddogboris
Rafael Gutierrez (Marcelo's brother) was our tour guide. Speed and skill runs in the family. -Sven Martin
Media Recce - every squid's favorite day of the week. Seager gets swamped -Sven Martin
Boris under arrest or showing the local cops some life quotes. -Sven Martin
How many squids does it take to move a fully loaded truck? Media Recce never goes smoothly. -Sven Martin
There were horses on track roaming and grazing freely. Mick Jagger and Harriet Wheeler would have been stoked. -Sven Martin
Caro Gehrig dropping one of the many bamboo bridges on stage three. -Sven Martin
Jesse Malamed is surely one of the favorites this weekend. Tunnel of doom on stage five. Check his instagram below the show for the POV! -Sven Martin
Greg Callaghan sliding into the bobsled run on three. -Sven Martin
Richie Rude on stage six, brand new and freshly cut. -Sven Martin
Chiguiro sending the finish line jump that he wanted to have. It has been scrapped, but nice try. What a legend. Seven stages and tired riders, I'm not sure if this would have been such a good idea. #deathgap Stay tuned for race action and results all weekend! -Sven Martin
