RUNNING THE GAMUT - Day 2 Race Action from the Enduro World Series, Val d'Isere

Weather for the final day of racing was much better than day 1. Some moody mist made an appearance now and then but the rain and thunder stayed away. -Sven Martin
Jerome on the beginning of Stage 4. It was super close racing. Even after over an hour of racing, only 11-seconds that separated Jared and Jerome. -Sven Martin
Not only the winner this weekend but also your 2013 Enduro World Champion with one round still left to go. Jerome made no big fuss of the fact, modest as always. A perfect role model and worthy wearer of the first official title to be celebrated with bigger fanfare come Finale. -Sven Martin
I feel for Tracy. She had won the women's overall with a decisive win on the final stage, only to have a 30-second penalty for not having a back number. EWS has to follow the French federation rules who officiate and insure the race. A hard lesson to swallow. Great riding this weekend Tracy! -Sven Martin
Anne Caroline Chausson won the Elite Women's class this weekend. Here she is, gunning for every millisecond on her final run back to town. -Sven Martin
Jared would go on to smash Stage 5, leap-frogging Fabien for second place overall. Long physical stages or short DH stages, he is the full package. -Sven Martin
Not the official podium, since Martin Maes (right) is junior. But this is your scratch overall finish. Jared Graves (2nd place, left and in audio), Jerome Clementz (1st place, center) and Martin Maes...only 16-years young and nipping at the heels of the best bike racers on the planet. -Sven Martin
Martin Madman Maes during training. You only get one practice run on each new stage. You have to use it wisely to test the limits of speed and traction, as there is no stopping or re-trying sections. -Sven Martin
What could have been. Justin Leov was the biggest threat this weekend. He has figured out the Enduro game and was looking good for a top two finish only to have his hopes dashed by a flat tire on Stage 3. -Sven Martin
Jamie Nicoll 5th overall this weekend. Still the Worlds fastest privateer, slowly picking up new shiny parts and wheels here and there, but still riding everyday in the same two year old Santa Cruz Jersey. -Sven Martin
This is the second lift up to Stage 5, which started on another peak, much further from town. It was a long, arduous stage, with flow, tech and a healthy dose of pedaling. -Sven Martin
Adam Craig in the near freezing temperatures as race day began. -Sven Martin
Stage 5 training run. -Sven Martin
Rene Wildhaber prepping for the day. -Sven Martin
Fabien Barel 3rd in Elite Men, 4th in the scratch. Narrowly pipped by the young 16-year old Martin Maes. -Sven Martin
Jared Graves waking up and stretching before Stage 4 early this morning. Racers were greeted with a fresh blanket of snow to start the stage. -Sven Martin
Jean Baptiste Ferrari is not afraid of the snow. First turn, first run of the morning. Yes! -Sven Martin
Nicolas Lau found the form that he had showed last year. A solid 4th place with an aggressive approach on the snow sprinkles early in the morning. -Sven Martin
Curtis Keene with a solid top 10 finish this weekend. -Sven Martin
Joe Barnes at the top of Stage 4. -Sven Martin
GT's Cecile Ravanel with another top 3 finish, also picking up a Stage win along the way. A perfect mix of XCO background with natural riding skills. Stage 5. -Sven Martin
No chance to take in the scenery when the course is littered with tech sections that will bite when you least expect it. -Sven Martin
Many options on the widely taped courses. Sometimes training with a friend can be help you find the fastest line. Over or around? -Sven Martin
Fred Glo making these epic races happen like no other could. -Sven Martin
Parts of Stage 5 shared a small section of Stage 1. Views and trails for miles here in Val d' Isere. -Sven Martin
First lift up. Last man down. Another long day on the hill for me and another great race in the books for the Enduro World Series! -Sven Martin ANOTHER INCREDIBLE WEEKEND, SVEN. THANK YOU SO MUCH! -gordo
