After a quick riders meeting (where a few riders asked that the pedal and tire rule be widened to include switching wheels, but were shot-down), stage one, the "Uber-D", got underway at 4pm on Friday. With clouds looming, the organizers rushed to get everyone to the top of the course before mother nature called the whole thing off. Stage one featured 3,500 ft of descending over an 8.5 mile course that featured several famed trails, starting with the Vapor trail high above treeline and eventually ending on the fast and flowalicious Highline trail below the village. Hot times for the stage were around twenty-five minutes, with Summit county's Nate Hills putting down the fastest at 23.39 - nearly a minute ahead of second place rider Spencer Powlison. It was all high-fives and smiles at the finish line and not a single competitor had a critique of the fun-filled course.
