SRAM XX Sweeps the Men's Podium

NINO SCHURTER WINS INAUGURAL XC WORLD CUP

With Nino Schurter’s (Scott – Swisspower) victory at the first XC World Cup of 2012 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, SRAM XX remains unrivaled in the men’s XC World Cup since its 2009 introduction. Joining Nino on the podium were local hero Burry Stander (Specialized Factory Racing), Manuel Fumic (Cannondale Factory Racing), Julien Absalon (Orbea) and reigning World Champion Jaroslav Kulhavy (Specialized Factory Racing), all on SRAM XX. Nino, Burry and Manuel battled for the entire race on the hard packed and technical course in Pietermaritzburg, but in the end the determined Swiss rider was able to pull away on the final lap and repeat his 2011 victory in South Africa.

Current World Champion Jaroslav Kulhavy was running one of the first production sets of the new SRAM XX Grip Shift shifters, along with Olympic Champion Julien Absalon.

During the women’s XC pro event Emily Batty (Subaru-Trek) battled the terrain and the heat on her XX-equipped 29er boasting a 2nd place finish at day’s end. The next round of the XC World Cup will be on April 14th and 15th in  Houffalize, Belgium
