Vernon, NJ – March 22, 2012 – The countdown has begun to the May 5th opening and the inaugural season at the new Mountain Creek Bike Park (formerly Diablo Freeride Park).  Riders at the new bike park can look forward to a season filled with new additions, on-mountain improvements and exciting events.

“We’re excited to see mountain biking continue and flourish here in New Jersey at Mountain Creek.  We couldn’t be set up any better for success, with a great biking mountain, arguably the world’s most efficient mountain biking lift (the Cabriolet gondola), our convenient proximity to the NY metro area and regional airports and an ownership that is committed to improvement and expansion. The response that we’ve been getting from the riding community has been tremendous, and we can’t wait to open the doors and celebrate with everyone on Cinco De Mayo” says Hugh Reynolds, Mountain Creek Marketing & Sales Manager.

With one of the longest lift-served riding seasons in North America (May – Oct) and located just 47 miles from downtown NYC, Mountain Creek offers a great convenient biking destination annually for tens of thousand of local, regional and international riders.  2012 Season Passes are now on sale through the Mountain Creek website (http://www.mountaincreekbikepark.com).  Early Bird All-Access Pass pricing of $279.99 is available for both Adult & Youth through Opening Day on May 5th.  In addition to the great value on unlimited riding access this season 2012 passholders will also enjoy discounts on resort lodging, food & beverage, retail and repair services.

The Mountain Creek Bike Park 2012 event season will kick off with the Mountain Creek Spring Classic USA Cycling Pro GRT / POC Eastern States Cup Series race on Sunday May 20th.  The Spring Classic  is a USA Cycling sanctioned ProGRT event held in conjunction with the POC Eastern States Cup series.  Pro & Amateur racers will be competing for more than $5,000 in cash and prizes.  Winners will earn points in both the USA Cycling Pro GRT series and POC Eastern States Cup Series, with double Eastern States Cup Series points up for grabs as well as the USA Cycling NJ State Championship.

2011 UCI World Cup Champion, Aaron Gwin as well as USA Cycling 2011 National Champion Logan Bignelli and their teams are already confirmed to be in attendance for the Spring Classic.  Aaron Gwin will assist with a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the new park to kick off the event.  Event and registration details will be available online starting on April 7th.

“We’re so excited to see world-class professional racing continue at Mountain Creek and in the Rock Garden this May.  I’ve been involved in and attended a lot of bike races around the country, and there is something about the race crowds here in New Jersey that’s just unlike anywhere else” say Marc Tremain, Mountain Creek Bike Park Operations Manager.  Look for details on the full Mountain Creek Bike Park event calendar to be released shortly.

Mountain Creek Resort & Crystal Springs Resort Owner, Andrew Mulvihill spoke: “I've been mountain biking for the past 30 years. I've been to Moab a dozen times and my favorite rides include: Porcupine Ridge, the White Rim and Jacobs Ladder. What I'd like to see is for Mountain Creek to become a Moab of the East, a destination for all who enjoy biking in all its forms.  Starting with our core downhill guests and expanding to open up our abundant mountaintop cross-country terrain to day and overnight guests.  Nothing would make me happier this summer than to see a bike rack on every car in town.”

Mountain Creek Bike Park will offer riders a number of a new additions and improvements to look forward to this summer.  To keep up to date with everything going on follow us online at Mountaincreekcreekbikepark.com and “Like” us on Facebook at Facebook.com/mountaincreekbikepark.  Ride On!
