Kona's Big Bike is Big News 6

Refinements galore and a number of features riders have been asking for, Kona has made a quiet push of this monster.

Kona Bikes made a soft launch of their all-new Process X bike. Vital readers spotted ads in magazines, then, the new wave of bikes appeared on Kona's website. It may not be breaking news but the new Kona Process X is big news. The all-new frame has adjustable chainstay lengths, the ability to run a 27.5-inch rear wheel, and heaps of suspension travel.

Meet the all-new Kona Process X DL and Process X

Process X DL - $6,999 USD
Process X - $4,999USD

The Process X uses a 170mm travel fork with reduced offset and sports 161mm of rear wheel travel. Much like the Process 134, the new Process X has a full carbon frame and looks every bit as refined. The big bike makes use of shorter seat tube lengths with plenty of post insertion. Sizes small and medium will come with a 170mm dropper post while large and x-large will have 200mm droppers.

The Process X comes standard as a 29-inch enduro bike but does have the ability to run a 27.5-inch rear wheel through the use of this flip chip.

Speaking of flip chip, both models also have the ability to run either a 435mm or 450mm chainstay. Be it for different sized riders or preference of handling, this is an elegant and often asked for solution to size specific chainstay lengths.

Kona has been a front runner in the geometry game for some time, with particular respect to a big reach in the Process lineup. The all-new Process X is no exception. 63.5-degree head tube angle and a 465mm reach on a medium is pretty mega!

Kona has also revised the Process 153 with a new aluminum chassis that, much like the Process X, takes cues from the Process 134. The revised geometry means a slacker head angle (64.5-degrees) and steeper seat angle than prior Process 153 models.

Unlike the new Process X, the Process 153 does not have any geometry adjustment features. Note that there is no size small in the Process 152 29.

Process 153 29 Geometry

The Process 153 has a 29-inch and 27.5-inch wheeled base model. Both feature the same builds, the only difference being in the wheels size and frame geometry.

Process 153 27.5 - $2,999 USD
Process 153 29 - $2,999
