GoPro Relaunches the Karma Drone 1

That’s right friends, the ultimate aerial, hand-held, wearable stabilization solution is back on shelves and more ready than ever to take GoPro users’ content creation to a whole new level.

Whether it’s capturing epic views from above or stabilizing footage on the go, Karma is so much more than a drone. It’s a versatile stabilization solution that brings Hollywood-caliber footage to your fingertips no matter where you are because Karma fits in a sleek backpack designed to be comfortably worn during nearly any activity.

“Karma is the ultimate aerial, handheld and wearable stabilization solution for the GoPro community,” says GoPro Founder and CEO, Nick Woodman. “As the consumer drone market continues to grow, Karma delivers the most versatile solution at a very accessible price.”

The complete system includes the compact and foldable Karma drone along with the Karma Grip, a 3-axis camera stabilizer that can be handheld, mounted or worn. Together, the Karma drone and Karma Grip capture shake-free, ultra-smooth video with ease.

To clarify, this Karma is the same Karma that launched last year—to the naked eye. If you break the construction down, you’d see that we’ve redesigned the battery latch. A small change that led to a huge improvement.

In November 2016 we had to make the difficult, but necessary, decision to voluntarily withdraw Karma from the market. Safety is our biggest priority, so this decision came after we learned that a small number of Karma units were experiencing power loss mid-flight. We knew we had to move quickly. Really, it was an easy decision but difficult news to share. So the new battery latch allows you return to your regularly programmed dronies without worry.

Don’t know what a dronie is? When you’re looking for hands-free, epic shots, tune in to one of the four auto flight patterns that Karma offers. These preset flight patterns capture shots like dronie, orbit, reveal and cable cam, so no matter your skill level, you can wow people with your drone skills.

Beginner pilots rejoice because it doesn’t end there. A painless out-of-the-box experience also helps you to go from backpack to flying in minutes. And the game-style controller features an integrated touch display, making it fun, fast and easy to fly without the need for a separate phone or tablet to see what the drone sees. You can even invite your friends to fly along with the GoPro Passenger App.

Separately available harnesses make Karma compatible with HERO5 Session and HERO4 Black and Silver cameras. Karma is available for $799.99 or bundled with HERO5 Black for $1099.99. We are also working on a Flight Kit for users who purchased Karma Grip alone, so stay tuned for that upgrade!

Karma is on sale at GoPro.com and select U.S. retailers. Karma will be available in international markets in the Spring. Learn more HERE. Make sure to check back, too, because new Karma functionalities will be available via software updates.
