Dainese, the leading producer of high-end protection and apparel, is proud to announce its sponsorship with pro freerider Paul Basagoitia.

Basagoitia began his journey as a pro in 2004 at Crankworx with an unexpected first place, competing with a borrowed biked and no sponsors. A back-to-back win a year later boosted his career on the pro tour. Since then, Paul Bas has held top positions at many of the top freeride events and showcased his skills in countless major video productions. First place at Red Bull Distrct Ride EU 2006, first place overall at Nissan Qashqai Tour in 2007, multiple podiums at the Teva Mountain Games and a consistent Red Bull Rampage attendee is what makes Bas a solid icon of this sport.

2012 will be busy for the freerider - Paul will attend the most prestigious freeride contests, from the slopestyle invitational to dirt jump jams all over the world. Besides competing, he will spend extensive time filming for Freeride Entertainment, producer of the upcoming film 'Where the Trail Ends.'

The Italian company, Dainese, specializes in innovation, development and production of protective clothing and apparel for action sports with an unmistakable presence in the mountain-bike market for twenty years. In 1992, thanks to its strong experience and know-how gained in the motorcycle sector, Dainese introduced the first back protector and full-body protection to downhill racing, through a close and fruitful collaboration with World Champions Nicolas Vouilloz and Anne-Caroline Chausson.

Working with athletes has always gone above and beyond merely sponsorship operations, it expresses a deeper collaboration linked to research and development for innovative solutions that protect riders while setting new standards. The collaboration with Paul sets new goals in this direction, compliments of Paul’s experience with pushing the limits of what is possible on a mountain bike.

Paul Bas will be riding in full Dainese apparel and armor, including the new knee pads featuring the BOA closure System.

“I'm stoked to be working with such an innovated company. The technology behind every product can stand alone as the best biking products available to riders. I can only expect even greater advances in their clothing and armor, which will push the limits of what mountain biking has to offer today. Because Dainese is not specifically just biking clothing and armor, its ensures me, and their consumers, protection, regardless of which extreme sport one is practicing.” - Paul Basagoitia
