BETI BIKE BASH, LARGEST WOMEN’S MOUNTAIN BIKE EVENT BACK FOR 5TH YEAR WITH $4K PRO PURSE

Press Release

Lakewood, Colo.— The fifth annual Beti Bike Bash presented by Stan’s NoTubes has become the premier women’s mountain bike event in Colorado for 2014. The highlights of the weekend’s activities include a full day of racing on Sunday, June 1 at Bear Creek Lake Park with an increased pro purse to $4000 and the Little Bellas Camp National Tour, happening May 31 and June 1.

“The amount of heart and soul that goes into the Beti Bash has made supporting it for the past four years a gratifying decision. Their women's only program has grown and flourished steadily which is a testament to their vision and commitment,” said Cindy Koziatek, Co-Owner of NoTubes. “I find it a joy to work this great group of ladies who are not only supporting females of all ages but growing a community of self, both on and off the bike.”

Elevation Cycles has partnered with the Beti Bike Bash for the second year running by sponsoring junior entries for girls 18 and under. Junior racers can register at Elevation Cycles in Highlands Ranch and Boulder beginning March 1, 2014.

“The shared vision in our race is apparent through our sponsors. We all have a strong desire to break down barriers to getting young girls and women on bikes. Working with sponsors who support this vision allows us to keep providing a positive race experience, regardless of age, experience, or ability”, explains race director Amy Thomas.

The course at Bear Creek Lake Park is a 4-mile, non-technical, and fast singletrack loop with views of surrounding Red Rocks Park. The well received “Never Ever” category — a modified beginner category for women who have never raced before — is back with age categories 19-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50+. All Beginners and Never Ever racers will ride two laps; Sport racers will ride three laps; Expert and Singlespeed racers will complete four laps; and Pro/Open women will race 5 laps on a newly enhanced lap. Juniors have several options — everything from a 1-mile loop up to the Expert distance. With support from Stan’s NoTubes, the Pro women will be competing for our largest cash purse ever that will pay 15-deep, awarding $1,000 to first place.

“We have seen the women’s mountain bike movement grow over the last five years, and with the continued support from our biggest sponsors — Stan’s No Tubes, Elevation Cycles, Yeti Cycles, Noosa Yoghurt and Twin Six — we aim to bring the Beti Bike Bash to record numbers this year and help more women start down the trail of becoming riders for life.”

The Little Bellas National Tour will return to Colorado for its third year of empowering girls ages 8 to 14, to realize their potential through cycling. Said the mother of one 2013 participant, “my daughter just finished the Beti Bike Bash. We just moved to Colorado and she had never set foot on a mountain bike before last month. After your camp, she is raring to go. It is nice to see an event that is such a positive experience for girls this age.” Registration for Little Bellas opens February 1, 2014 at www.littlebellas.com.

The 2014 Beti Bike Bash will benefit Camp Discovery in Empire, Colorado supporting women who have spinal cord disorders, teaching them physical fitness while creating lasting friendships with those who have similar experiences and obstacles.
