2012 Epic Singletrack Race Series at Winter Park Resort

Winter Park, COLO., (April 26, 2012) - Winter Park’s Competition Center announces open on-line registration for the largest mountain bike race series in Colorado, Epic Singletrack Series at Winter Park Resort. Riders can test their endurance on hill climbs and cross-country courses during seven race dates. The series will kick off Winter Park Resort’s summer season opening day, Saturday, June 16, 2012.

2012 marks the 20th year anniversary of the Epic Singletrack Series at Winter Park Resort (formerly Winter Park Mountain Bike Race Series) and utilizes the 600+ miles of mountain bike terrain in the Winter Park and Fraser Valley areas to design unique and challenging race courses. The 2012 schedule will introduce two new race courses/events; the Epic Short-Track Cross-Country and a cross-country race in Rendezvous.

 

Participants can choose from seven categories (pro/semi-pro, expert, sport, beginner, clydesdale, single speed and open) with staggered start waves to keep athletes spread out on the course and focused on the competition in each age class and category. Registration rates vary per age, and registration date.

 

Volunteers are needed to assist with such a large race series and will be compensated with an option of reward opportunities: (1) winter lift ticket OR (1) Trestle Bike Park ticket for every five hours worked OR parents of competition center athletes can work towards a “work deposit refund” applicable to multi-week programs during the winter season.

Race 1: Saturday, June 16 - Hill Climb Kick-Off

Race 2: Saturday, June 30 - Epic XC #2

Race 3: Saturday, July 14 - Epic XC #3

*Race 4: Sunday, July 15 - Epic STXC

Race 5: Saturday, July 28 – Colorado Epic XC

*Race 6: Saturday, August 4 – Race Rendezvous

Race 7: Sunday, August 26 - King of the Rockies

Daily Race Schedule*:

8-9am: Day-of event registration at the base of Winter Park Resort in West Portal Plaza

 

8am – last start: Number pick-up for pre-registered racers at the base of Winter Park Resort in West Portal Plaza

 

10am: Race start, first wave

 

1-3pm: Refreshments, raffles and awards at the base of Winter Park Resort

2012 Entry Fees:

• The Series Pre-Entry (save $98 by June 1): $200

includes Epic Singletrack Series t-shirt and all seven races

 

• The Series Regular Entry (save $73 after June 1): $225

includes Epic Singletrack Series t-shirt and all seven races

 

• One Race Pre-Registration (by 4pm the day before): $40

 

• One Race Registration (by 9am race day): $50

 

• 18 & Under Registration: subtract $15/race or $50 for series
