RESULTS - Timed Training, Andorra World Cup Downhill

Loris Vergier and Marine Cabirou fastest in Andorra during timed training.

A return to Andorra for the fourth stop of 2019 World Cup Downhill series means a steep track and big rotors for the fastest mountain bikers on the planet. John Lawlor, who films Vital RAW, reported that track conditions for today's timed training session were "very dry and dusty with dust clouds everywhere." Loris Vergier backed up his 2018 World Cup win in Andorra by going quickest in timed training today with a 4:20.3. Finn Iles pulled into 2nd with a 4:21.7 and series leader, Troy Brosnan was 3rd just 1.6 seconds off Loris' time. David Trummer, who's had some sparks of genius on the track this year, continues to expand his presence in 4th. Dakotah Norton was the fastest #USDH rider in 25th.

There have been a few minor track taping changes that slow riders down in some spots, but straighten out and speed things up in others. Today's fastest time of 4:20 is a mirror image of Amaury Pierron's fastest 2018 timed training result of 4:20. The winning race time of 2018 was a 4:04 set by Loris Vergier, so assuming course conditions remain consistent, race times will be considerably quicker than what we saw today.

Marine Cabirou was quickest in the Elite Women's class by nearly 7 seconds over series leader, Tracey Hannah. Rachel Atherton did not have a significant result in timed training today. Matteo Iniguez and Kye A'hern were neck-and-neck, separated by only .059 in the Junior Men's class and the Junior Women seemed to struggle when their times are considered with Mille Johnset's fastest run just under 10 minutes.

Timed training is not mandatory and results do not count toward World Cup series overall points. It is an official timed practice session only for top-ranked riders to help them prepare for race day.
