RESULTS - Tamarack NW Cup / Pro GRT Seeding

Dry, dusty and pinned with Neko Mulally and Camila Nogueira fastest in Pro and the Top 4 Junior Men separated by less than .5 seconds.

Awarm, cloud-free day at Tamarack Resort in Donnelly, Idaho, set the stage for the seeding round of the Pro and Junior Cat 1 classes at the 2019 NW Cup / Pro GRT downhill race. This is race four of eight on the 2019 NW Cup calendar and the fourth and final round of the 2019 Pro GRT. A track that featured both steep, technical sections mixed with high-speed ski run turns was tricky to navigate with loose soil and ever-changing dry conditions. In all categories, the racing was extremely close.

Taylor Ostgaard went fastest in the Junior Women's class by nearly 3 seconds with a 3:53 followed by Ella Erickson and Sydney Haberman, who are within reach for race day.

The Junior Men's class was divided by milliseconds as the Top 4 were separated by only .48 seconds total with Daniel McMaster the leader of the grom train. The Top 10 Junior Cat 1 Men are split up by only 6 seconds. There were 23 registered Junior Men today and equally large numbers in the other Junior categories giving confidence for a strong future downhill race scene.

Pro Women's DH is alive and very competitive at the NW Cups with 16 competitors at Tamarack. Camila Nogueira was the only woman to break the 3:29 barrier, but Claire Buchar (2nd) and Rachel Pageau (3rd) are hot on her heels, just off her pace, followed by Jordan Scott and Sam Soriano within just a few seconds.ย

Neko Mulally, fresh off a World Cup in Leogang just a few days earlier, posted the fastest time of the day with a 2:57.60, barely ahead of Bruce Klein, Nik Nestoroff and Kendal McLean. The Pro Men's class Top 10 is separated by only 6 seconds. One of the highlights of seeding was downhill legend, Chris Kovarik, taking his run on an early 2000s Intense M1 loaned to him by Kore North Bicycles from Meridian, Idaho. He was foot out, drifting corners and seeded in 23rd with a 3:12. He will race his M29 on race day.
