RESULTS: Qualifying from Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup DH 2017 2

Gwin and Nicole put the hurt on the field as the MSA track puts the hurt on everyone.

Qualifying for the 2017 UCI World Cup Downhill at Mont-Sainte-Anne is complete with Aaron Gwin, Myriam Nicole, Matt Walker and Melanie Chappaz going fastest in their classes. Rain threatened but held off for level competition on one of the most demanding courses of the season. Aaron Gwin set the fast time of the day with a 4:02.974 followed by Loic Bruni with 4:04.491 in 2nd and Greg Minnaar just another .3 seconds back with a 4:04.774 in 3rd. Current World Champ Danny Hart and U.S. rider, Luca Shaw round out the Top 5.

Myriam Nicole lead the Elite Women's charge ahead of Tracey Hannah, Rachel Atherton and Tahnee Seagrave respectively. The Top 4 Elite Women were separated by less than 5 seconds.

Junior World Cup overall winner, Finn Iles, suffered a front flat and settled for a 9th place result while Matt Walker took his prototype 29er Saracen bike convincingly to the top of the box, 9 seconds ahead of Sylvain Cougoureaux. Junior women ran seeding (not qualifying) with Melanie Chappaz out front and U.S. rider, Mazie Hayden in 2nd place.

Stay tuned for more coverage all weekend, including Vital RAW from today dropping soon.
