RESULTS: Martin Maes and Isabeau Courdurier Win EWS Tasmania 1

New week, new island - same old result!

The writing was on the wall after yesterday's impressive stage one performances from the round one winners, and it even looked like we might be in for another total stage domination bid after Martin Maes and Isabeau Courdurier started day two off with more stage wins. Martin would go on to win the two opening stages of the day before backing it off a bit, while Isabeau started trading stage wins with Jill Kintner and local hero Rowena Fry as of stage 3 already. In the end, both Martin and Isabeau took the overall wins with fairly comfortable margins, with EWS newcomer, the Queen of Carnkworx Jill Kintner taking home an impressive 2nd place for her first ever EWS race. It will be fascinating to see how she gets on throughout the year as the series marches on. In the men's, flat pedal DH World Cup ripper Connor Fearon backed up his solid stage one performance with more of the same, finishing the race in third and landing himself on his first EWS podium. Reigning EWS champ Sam Hill was evidently still not back in full form after battling illness last week in New Zealand, but he still signed off by winning the last stage of the day and hauling himself back up into the top ten. With only 20 seconds separating the podium from tenth place, the racing is tight and we are in for a great season!
