The first round of the 2014 Enduro World Series is in the books, and what a spectacular start to a season of racing it's been. With 6 special stages each a bucket list ride in its own right we've been treated to a visual onslaught of epic views and red hot racing action, but when it's all said and done, only the clock can write the final chapter in this first Enduro saga of 2014.

After a long and tight battle, it came down to the last stage of the weekend to decide the first winner of 2014. Jerome Clementz had been trailing Jared Graves since stage 2 of day 1, but he patiently chipped away at the Aussie's lead until dropping the hammer on the last stage to pull ahead by 8 seconds. Martin Maes, the Belgian wonder kid, sensationally won 3 out of 6 stages, but just faded enough on the longer stages to slot into 4th place - still an incredible achievement for such a young rider. Florian Nicolai might have surprised himself a bit ending up 3rd, and Justin Leov will be pleased to open his 2014 campaign with a 5th place overall and second fastest on stage 5.

In the women's race Anne-Caroline Chausson confirmed that when she is healthy and firing on all cylinders, she is still hard to deal with. Winning 5 out of 6 stages to take the overall by a over 1 minute, she looked serene and in control all weekend. Tracy Moseley got faster as the event went on, and Cecile Ravanel will be very pleased with her third place finish at such a demanding race venue - she sealed the deal overtaking Anneke Beerten on the very last special stage of the race.

Stay tuned for slide show action coming your way shortly!
