FINAL RESULTS - Maribor World Cup Downhill

When the weather cooperates at a World Cup Downhill, the results feel just. Even if your favorite rider didn't perform the way you'd hoped, the game is fair. Today, the game felt fair in Maribor. Quite a contrast to the dry-to-wet qualifying conditions of yesterday in Slovenia, today's racing conditions were fantastic and consistent and the competition was sharp.

Elite Men's Results

In what feels like a virtual tie, the racing in the Elite Men's class of the 2019 World Cup DH in Maribor came down to tenths of a second after a nearly 3-minute track. The times throughout the entire field were so close that you had to get down in to 50th positions to finally get 10-seconds slower than the winning time. The top runs were all within reach, some rowdy (Danny Hart), some flawless (Loic Bruni), but in the end Loic Bruni took the top spot. Loris Vergier and Finn Iles, both contenders for the win had crashes that dashed their hopes and mixed wheel size goes 1 and 2. HECK YEAH CHARLIE HARRISON! #USDH

Elite Women's Results

If this first race in Maribor is any indication, it's that the 2019 fight in the Elite Women's class is going to be a nail-biter. Tahnee Seagrave defeated Rachel Atherton by only .8 seconds while Tracey Hannah was just 2.6 back in 3rd. Marine Cabirou and Monika Hrastnik nipping at their heels. The Top 5 women were separated by less than five seconds today in Maribor. Bring it on!

Junior Men's Results

Thibaut Daprela continues his winning ways with a win in the Junior Men's class and does so convincingly with a 3-second margin over first-time Junior World Cup racer, Ethan Shandro. Kye A'hern pulled up in 3rd place a second behind Shandro proving that the Juniors will be have a solid battle throughout the year.

Junior Women's Results

Vali Holl rolls into 2019 just like she rolled out of 2018...at the top of the podium. The Junior Downhill World Champ and World Cup overall winner keeps her winning streak alive. Anna Newkirk (#USDH), is slowly closing the gap, however with a strong 2nd place finish today, just narrowly edging out Mille Johnset by a few tenths of a second.
