I'm sixteen and have been biking for about 4 years, but have always had trouble jumping. As soon as I leave the air, I get all tight and tense, which can lead to unpleasant results. Same with drops, just can't hit anything bigger then three feet. Whips are horrible as well, I just can't swing the bike around farther then say 30-45 degrees.

I'd say don't worry so much about whips right away. I always say to just do Something in the air to prevent those dead sailors. Just a little turn bar or a bit of a tuck is all it takes. Going straight to whips changes the direction of the bike and makes any possible dead sailor landings more dangerous and bad for your bike. The "Jammin, Salmon" is always good for a laugh.

Thanks! That should help a lot.

I dont know much about NM but taking lessons in a bike park with jump trails is also a really good way to progress. Usually fairly reasonably priced too.
