Was Ed on a one year contract? Moving onto a full enduro deal, or just end of season clear out

My $$ would be on an end of season clear out.

We see the pros's do the same thing here in Australia at the end of each year.

Rach to race a women's only enduro event next week, hosted by Hope so probably nothing to read into.

Pretty sure she did the same event last year, she was not fond of all the pedaling Smile

I don't get pro DH'er complaining about events you have to pedal. Thought they were harder than that....

Why are you assuming she´s not hard enough or lacking fitness?
Rachel would probably smoke most on a bike uphill. She´s tough as nails.
She most likely just isn´t really fond of all the redundant pedalling in between timed stages. That´s what i personally dislike about enduro as well.

I made a pretty general comment about pro riders, not anyone in particular. I know how fit the top level of DH racers are and how much they train.

I'm just tired of the whole "heavy eye roll, long sigh" followed by a totally pretentious sounding "uhhhh, pedaling"

It's just a shitty attitude to have when your job is being in the public eye as the face of mountain biking, especially to young kids. All the kids who grew up pedalling for the most part still ride and are exploring cool areas. The number of kids who grew up thinking pedalling suck that are still riding is pretty low. So the "pedalling sucks" bull from pro's really just hurts the sport long term.

The vast majority of complaints arise when speaking specifically about DH courses that involve pedaling. Yes, sometimes riders bitch about climbing (like normal people do) but they still all ride trail bikes and train on road. They mainly complain about pedaling in a sport that is totally focused with going downhill. Therefore the best tracks are 100% downhill. Introducing flat or even uphill sections in a DH race is not a good thing. Same goes for alpine ski racing. When there are flat, slow sections it sucks. And ski racers complain about it. Skiing through flat sections is totally doable but it would be better if it is was 100% downhill. Imagine if DH skiing had flat or uphill sections where the racer was required to skate a bit... That would be so ridiculous that we don't even consider it a possibility in alpine ski racing. We only think of skiing as a downhill sport nowadays. Most of us have completely forgotten that skiing does involve going uphill the whole way on your own- we've just grown accustomed to viewing skiing through a 100% downhill lens only.

With a DH bike, pedaling sucks. With alpine skis, going uphill sucks.

Please move this discussion to the "pedaling sucks" forum. This one is for team rumors and not uphill alpine sking.

Pinkbike been lurking on this thread!

Also, Kate Courtney to Scott? Do they even have tacos in Switzerland? That seems like a deal breaker! ;-)
I'll be interested in how that pans out... I would think specialized isn't anxious to let a rainbow jersey go...
