so i currently ride a fox 32 talas 150mm fork, with a 15mmQR an find it extremely flexy, the steerer tube is a 1/8. my question for y'all is if i sent it back to fox, to have it converted to a tapered steerer tube, would it really make it that much stiffer? in other words, is it worth the trouble, or should i just sell it an get myself something burlier for my front end. thanks for any info....

What type of flex are you experiencing? Forward/back, or torsional? A tapered steerer won't help with the latter.

If you're looking for a night and day difference by simply swapping out the steerer, you won't get it. I'd suggest stepping up to a 36, especially since you're in the 150mm travel range.

it feels like it starts twisting once i get really aggro on the bike. so i would say torsional. are there any 36's at 150mm, i'm def not to keen on going to a 160mm.

I know the Float can easily be internally shimmed down to anything between 100-160mm. Might be possible with the Talas, too? I'd give Fox a shout. 1-800-Fox-Shox.

You can not shim down a tals to shorter travel levels unfortunately. The taper steerer will help but it's not going to be night and day. If you want a really stiff 150mm fork get something with 20mm and larger stanctions
