Need to get over my fear of gaps!

Start with smaller gaps then get bigger. Also don't just sit there thinking about doing it. Either go balls out or just don't even try.

Depending on where you ride, you could build a temporary table top into the gap out of pallets or scrap wood. Then there's no gap to mess with your mind. Then after you've hit and are comfortable with the jump, just take it out and gap it with ease. I did say depending on where you jump. If the jumps are built by older better riders, they probably wont appreciate the addition. You could also build your own dirt landing and a moveable wood lip. Set it up with a tiny gap until you're comfy and then move it back in increments. We had a great time at Sea Otter one year by gapping up onto a couple of big wire spools and moving the lip back until my friend Garren was the only one willing to hit it at about twenty feet.

What i did to get over that fear was just ride stupid fast at the jump and bail mid air. I still cleared it, with my bike, just not attached to it. At this point I decided that they weren't that scary and falling didn't hurt that bad. So I just went for it from then on out.

Post up some pictures of your metal ramps when they're done.
