Every month we award the Top User Reviewer with a little prize. This month Jenson USA pitched in another $100 gift card! Vital member bikeboardorblade took home top honors in August with his review of the Renthal Push-On grips:

Renthal Push-On Grip - MSRP: $15.95

The Good: Lots of grip, with or without gloves. Ultra Tacky holds up surprisingly well. Much more comfortable than lock on. Cheap.

The Bad: Maybe they could be just a mm or 2 thicker? Wish there were more color options. Umm...hands get dirty when not wearing gloves?

"I've been riding slip on grips for a few years now, and am slowly converting my friends to them. After years of running lock on grips, primarily ODI Ruffians and some Easton grips, I saw noticed a number of pros running these Renthals and with them being cheap I thought they were an affordable experiment. I first tried the Kevlar version, which I also speak highly of, and have now been running the Ultra Tacky version for 6 months or so, and I'm a huge fan. In addition to The Good listed above, when combined with flattening out my brake levers, arm pump has all but disappeared. I try and ride 10-12 hours a week, and they have held up surprisingly well. The edge that contacts the bar end is starting to peel, but for the comfort and grip they provide, at under $20 you could replace them twice and you'd still be out less than some lock on grips.

Some complaints I've heard about slip on grips is messy or difficult installation, and while they might not go on as easy as a lock on grip, I really don't think it's that difficult to glue, wire, or apply some hairspray to the bar to make them stick. Another trick I've been using is putting an old lock ring on the inboard side, and between that and the bar plug they don't move around on me, laterally or around the grip.

I used to ride Blenki style/sans gloves, but until I do a better job at staying upright I'll stick with gloves. The few rides I have done without gloves have been around the pump track or shorter rides, and either way there is no shortage of grip, even while raining or with sweaty gloves in the summer. Highly recommended!" - Read more»
