Prototype Dropper Post and Updates from KS 3

There's a lot going on at KS!

KS Genesys Integrated Dropper Post Prototype

The integration of bike components into frames could lead to lighter and more-put-together bikes in the future. KS is hoping to help lead the charge with the use of their new integrated post system called Genesys. By using the frame’s seat tube as a structural member and fixing the internals with a bolt (which also allows you to adjust saddle height), KS is able to integrate their dropper post into the frame, similar to what EightPins did during last year’s Eurobike show.

This system is claimed to be lighter and smoother thanks to a larger air spring and more oil flow. The main seal and bushing are housed in the seat collar which allows maximum travel for a given frame.

It’s an OEM-only product for now because it requires modifications to the frame and 27.2, 30.9 and 31.6 diameter sizes are in the works. Could this be the future of bikes? It’s certainly possible. The potential for integration to lead to better things is very real and we’re excited to see where this leads.

KS Lev Seatpost Updates

The KS Lev series of posts see a number of updates for 2018. Leading the charge is a focus on 27.2mm posts which are becoming increasingly popular in the XC world and can outfit older bikes with a dropper option. The KS Lev Series extends from 65mm to 175mm of travel depending on the model and many riders will be pleased to know that the new 175mm LevCi post is now in production.

The Integra gets a more streamlined look and black anodized bolts which give the post a stealthy appearance. Now offered in 80mm travel size, too, the Integra could be a good choice for groms or shorter riders. The Lev series gets a hinged bar clamp which grips better than the previous and a new carbon version of Southpaw lever hits the market to boot.

KS e20i Dropper Posts

The KS e20i dropper post series is intended to be a more affordable and simpler dropper post that brings the conveniences of an adjustable height saddle to more riders. The e20i comes in 27.2, 30.9 and 31.6mm diameters with versions ranging from 65mm to 150mm travel.

KS Road Dropper Seatpost Prototype

KS also had an interesting dropper on display that was mounted to Mavic’s neutral support bikes during the Tour de France. It features a lightweight cable on the adjustment mechanism which allowed any unfortunate rider that had to use the bike to adjust the saddle height quickly and easily.
