New Wheels and Hub Designs from Novatec

The Crisp, Demon XL and Diablo XL wheel sets coming in hot from Novatec.

Novatec was stoked to introduce us to the Crisp wheelset designed for dirt jump and slopestyle use in collaboration with Martin Söderström. We dig the $599 price point, multiple color options including Martin’s signature edition, and single speed hub which is compatible with up to three cogs if you’d like a little bit of range. The rear hub features a bolt-on 10mm axle and a super clean appearance.

Also new is the Demon XL wheelset. This wheelset has a 33mm internal width and an asymmetrical rim at $629 for the set. The Demon XL is made for downhill and freeride applications with a 157mm rear hub.

The same rim comes under the Diablo XL name for enduro use in 27.5 and 29-inch options. Both the Demon and Diablo can be customized in-house at Novatec’s Georgia facility with various color and hub upgrade options.

Finally, Novatec was stoked to introduce us to a new e-mountain bike hub. The technology used inside the hub could trickles down to other hubs in the future. Due to the huge amount of torque that can be exerted by an e-mountain bike rider, Novatec realized the need to develop a stronger hub mechanism. The hub uses 6 pairs of pawls that are short and long which provides 3.25-degree engagement with alternating short and long pawls engaging. The ratchet mechanism is also quite deep which helps boost strength as well.
