New Forks, Shocks and Cranks from SR Suntour 1

SR Suntour keeps upping their game with feature-rich suspension and crank offerings.

RUX Downhill Fork

SR Suntour has been hard at work updating a few forks in their lineup. Starting off with their RUX downhill fork, they've completely revised the lower casting as well as the crowns. The casting drops about 100 grams off the weight of the previous version. They've shaved weight on the crown, but have also reduced the overall stack height for those looking for a lower front end. The fork uses a 36mm stanchions and has moved to the 20 x 110 Boost axle standard. It is possible to run adapters for your standard 20mm hubs.

The RUX uses an updated PCS (Piston Compensator System) cartridge which has now been rolled out across the whole line of forks from SR Suntour. The PCS cartridge on the RUX features independent adjustment of high- and low-speed rebound and compression. There is a service port on the lowers for grease injection. A nifty, detachable and integrated fender looks good, fitting the shape of the arch perfectly. This fender has also been introduced to across the range of forks from SR Suntour.

The new RUX will be initially offered in a 26 and a 27.5-inch version and will be available early in 2018. It weighs around 2800 grams and the pricing is TBD.

Durolux Enduro Fork

SR Suntour’s new Durolux is their big-hitting enduro fork. Available with 160, 170 or 180mm travel for 27.5 or 29 inch wheels, the air-sprung singlecrown uses Suntour’s PCS cartridge. Models offer dual compression and dual rebound adjustments or dual compression and single rebound adjustment. The new magnesium lowers come in standard 15mm x 110mm Boost or 20mm x 100mm (non-boost) axle sizing and feature the integrated fender as well as grease ports to keep it running smoothly. The Durolux weighs 2095g and will be available in Sept 2017.

TriAir Shock

SR Suntour has expanded their line of rear shocks with the introduction of their first piggyback shock, the TriAir. Intended for anything from DH, freeriding and trail riding, the TriAir offers a three-position compression lever and eight clicks of rebound adjustment. It’s available in both Metric and non-Metric sizes, as well as some trunnion-mounted varieties. The shock features the same PCS (Piston Compensator System) approach that we see on their forks. Weight is TBD with availability toward the end of 2017.

Auron and Aion Cranksets

There are two new cranks from SR Suntour. The carbon Auron crank works for freeride to trail, to cross country use. It uses a direct-mount 24mm steel spindle, optimized for either 50mm or 53mm chainlines. 170 or 175mm arm lengths are available and weights come in around 600g, excluding bottom bracket and chainring, putting the Auron in the middle of its class. SR Suntour says these cranks should be up for any abuse, so it’s a competitive weight.

The direct-mount chainring features their Wave design which is an alternating thick/thin profile but which also offsets the teeth to each side - all of which is supposed to help with chain retention.

The slightly heavier and slightly less expensive Aion crank is built around the same chainring and bottom bracket but uses aluminum arms. Weight is 713g for the Aion without bottom bracket or ring.
