Lapierre Moves to an Entirely New Suspension Design 13

Spicy and Zesty models receive a suspension tweak and an e-bike you may not even notice.

Lapierre’s booth was full of redesigned bikes for 2019, many of which featured a major modification to their suspension linkage. Both the Spicy enduro and the Zesty all-mountain bike now feature a design where the shock is secured at the top with a trunnion mount, goes through the seat tube, and is actuated at the bottom end by a lower shock mount connected to the chainstay. While it can’t be good for seat post insertion depth, with a guy like Nico Vouilloz giving Lapierre input, you know it will result in better suspension performance.

Zesty AM

The Spicy and Zesty are both offered in 27.5 and 29-inch options where the 27.5 bikes have 10mm of additional travel front and rear. Spicy slots in at 160/170mm and the Zesty at 140/150mm.

We spotted an interesting box on the underside of the downtube which is a flexible storage solution that also offers downtube protection. Both bikes come with a 0.5-degree angleset and are spec'd with short 35/45mm stems.

Spicy

It wouldn’t be Eurobike if a company didn’t have an e-bike on display as well, and Lapeirre will offer the new eZesty AM with its carbon frame and relatively sleek design. If you're not looking closely, you may not even notice  it's an e-bike.
