I'd go with the SLX brakes... great lever feel and lots of stopping power! Also doesn't hurt that they are on

Agreed with bturnman. Get yourself a nice all mountain bike to start with. You will get the most out of a mountain by enabling you to climb and descend. You won't have any fun riding downhill on a hardtail, you will be riding your brakes all the way ... more »

As the other guys have said, you don't want to go with anything more than 100mm of travel for dirt jumping. I've had a Manitou Sherman 100mm fork for years on my p3 and it has been flawless. The Sherman has been discontinued, but I've ridden the Circus ... more »
