Trek Slash 1Ö (Full Coil Dreambuild.)

I'd feel guilty first time I sent it cartwheeling through a pile of scree...then dog it out from there on.

Hah. Not a slight bro. Just saw a Giant & went to check pricing/stock & couldn't find a 2019 or 2020 DH? I'm needing a new plow myself

Greatest thing about them is that I got them in the very first week they hit the U.S. I have a 142mm rear on my 2018 Kona Process 153SE and have upgraded every product on it except wheels.
Only options for a 142mm are pre-built low engagement stuff, used high end questionable usage stuff on Craigslist or custom built high end stuff.
This was the most inexpensive, highest engagement medium/heavy duty wheelset out there and I bashed the hell out of it from day 1 and not a spoke has de-tensioned so far. Super happy to have a dialed wheelset at that price for my "old" tech.

Thank you Nukeproof for not forgetting that bikes last a long time!!!

Added a comment about video Steve Peat vs Loris Vergier!! Old vs New school cornering techniques! 9/9/2020 10:20 AM

I have seen most every generation of rider trackside over the years and the things you see Peaty do on a track that should be difficult look effortless when he comes through. Remember one time he one footed a 16-18" high boulder at the exit of the rock garden at Seven Springs, PA. Would have brought most anyone to a dead stop but he just annihilated it.
Then at Deer Valley, he should have flown off course in his race run on the last little right near the finish but just dabbed and smoked 'em all.

The video every other rider this year WISH they had made. I'll take this video on repeat for all of COVID!!!
Thanks for punching out all the minute details that people who watch your Insta clips know about you guys. Your build ethic is just hardcore perfection. No corners cut and absurd amounts of ingenuity and muscle. That dirt packer strapped to ropes...yeah.
Then you get Brage coming through to try to rip holes in all of it. 2020 Video of the Year!

On that course, I'm putting money on the 29er every time. Buell might have blown a corner, but if there's one thing that you can easily attribute that to is entry speed was greater but didn't "feel" as fast. We can adapt to the higher speeds of the bigger wheels if the course, brakes & tires are all familiar after an afternoon of runs.

Same can be said of the mixed wheel setup in saving badly setup obstables or keeping from being bucked or buzzed in chunk or chaotic terrain.

He rode both, gave feedback on hitting the ground running, but in the end, truly getting INSTINCT LEVEL familiar with a specific bike over a few days of runs is the only way to prove one is faster for you as an individual.

Luca's a great example. He has ridden 29er for a long while. One week of testing on a mullet and his times were still slower than the 29er setup. But he didn't think twice and went mullet. When he gets to instinct level on it is when he'll be able to put down lap times to compare to his 29er.

Hopping on and off of 2 very differently setup bikes with 2 very different wheels is apples and oranges. They only have the suspension system & angles simliar.

I trust Buell. I've been on track and he is one talented mofo! My low hanging ball satch says to go mullet though. On 29er, you can get the perfect run and be faster. But you better not go offline b/c it's gonna be a long way back to get the thing up to speed or turned, which is most of us.

Mullet, you get off line and can punch hard with your hips to get back where you were going and let the tractor tire on the front take some of the punishment while you're getting squared back up to punch the gas. That's all it comes down to really. Racers love being able to correct quick when the chaos hits and the rear 275 wheel lets you.

Just watch Amaury vs Danny in that flat rock section at Snowshoe. Amaury got off a hair and couldn't get the bike back to that thin single file line around the tree. Danny switched angles and accelerated right there, turned the cranks to keep the speed up while Amaury had to wind that big rear wheel back up to speed.

Spomer, can you get together with the photogs (Sven you lookin'?) to do an extensive article on all tips and tricks the pros use to quiet bikes down? I know all of us have ideas, but I think we could all benefit from a big How To with pics from around thr circuit. Different stuff has to work on different designs...mmmmkay.
Also, Vegas odds are at 2/1 that PB will wait 60 days before copying the article, renaming it the exact same thing and trying to say that it's not an original concept "RAW"

Now just imagine if that distance jump he hit had even more downslope where he could go deeper down and not bottom. Might still be landing today.

I have to assume you're referring to the author, not the comments?
If so, the comparison makes perfect sense. They are the 2 similarly priced complete builds from 1 brand and very differently speced. This really helps people wondering if they should buy and race one or the other straight out of the box, no mods.

I'd rather you had tested the $5k mullet version & put a 2.5/2.4 Minion combo on it.
Well, I'd rather own it. But I don't have any ability to get an E.P. so I can't get either.
