I guess the newer version of the TTX doesn't fit on that bike.

Reply to UCI Rule Changes for 2018 10/18/2017 6:57 PM

Including the comments above, this move has positive implications for national level racing, too. There is a huge gap at Pro GRTs and Canada Cup races in North America between local heroes and what it takes to race at a world cup level. Hopefully, this ... more »

Reply to DISCUSS - 29ers in WC downhill? 1/16/2017 6:36 PM

Bryceland summed it up in his retirement vid. Sure, 29ers will be faster when you open up the tracks like they did at MSA this year, but do you really want to watch 80 guys bomb a ski hill at not be able to tell who's going 70km/hr or 80km/hr? How many ... more »

Reply to The Enduro "Craze" and Safety 4/4/2016 6:18 PM

Trail bikes are longer, more stabile and the cross over between DH and enduro parts are pretty similar. Everything about the bike has gotten significantly better in the last 5 years. So in general, people feel more confident in their equipment and can ... more »

Reply to dinged rim tubeless tire 1/10/2016 7:43 PM

Unfortunately, yes...maybe. Try wrapping the inner diameter of the rim with a few turns of gorilla tape. It will make the tire bead and rim tolerance tighter. Use a lot sealant and a compressor.

Reply to Will + bikes take over the MTB world? 12/7/2015 8:09 AM

It will have its applications. Sometimes I want 2.7" tires for DH and Gwin, Kovarik and Peaty used that combo a lot on 26 (when they were available). They will be great at lower speeds and help beginners ride tech stuff easier, but they have this kind

Reply to Wet Weather Tire Setups 12/1/2015 1:45 PM

For the Pacific Northwest, it's hard to beat 2x 2.4 High Roller 2s EXO tubeless on the trail bike and the DH casing tubeless as well on the DH bike in the wet months. Not as predictable as Minion DHFs on hard pack (bike park) though. Shortys on the DH ... more »

Hi Dave, I know you're not part of the drivetrain segment of SRAM, but what is holding back the majority of bike/component manufacturers from thinking inside the box (gearboxes that is)? Do you think it's just a matter of dollars/ numbers of derailleurs ... more »

Reply to Why are flat tires something we still see these days? 5/21/2014 1:29 PM

I've about these euro tubes, but I would think that they would be shit for grip because they wouldn't allow the tire to wrap around rocks and roots: Jared Graves would often run a ghetto tubeless setup that used a ... more »

carbon is definitely looking like the future. The high pivot, moto link (superco, zerode, lahar) eats bumps. The main pivot is much higher than a F5 and 224 and needs a floating brake arm.

Reply to Fashion Over Function in Downhill Mountain Biking? 2/8/2010 1:26 PM

The ban has absolutely nothing to do with safety, otherwise they would require all riders to wear full armor, including gloves. On another note, I doubt it has much advantage unless the track is open and fast +40km/h. The bikes are also very non aerodynamic. ... more »
