More like other bikes make room for a water bottle by making the downtube lower.

Just like the early 29ers... long ass CS, which never really found favor with the long time hardcore riders until the front end stretched out to balance them out

The mental gymnastics to test the logic that a bike with a motor extends the limits of bicycle components, which others seemingly claim to push to their limits without a motor... I have little patience for how long it takes people to disprove these stupid generalizations.

Also, finding that 4x4 and moto trails can be fun to ride... should be a duh, but I guess those climbs that go straight up the hill, without a smooth line at all, intimidated mtn bikers.

Fully Custom POLE STAMINA 140

Interesting to see all the different interpretations of "maxed", "no holds barred", and "dream" bike builds. Quite some diverse interpretations. Would be boring if everyone picked the same parts. Good contrast to that Revel one I saw with Intend fork and shock.

How many miles you have on your Hellkat? I had an amazing first 300 miles on mine, able to ride trails without touching the brakes, taking corners all hotter than usual, but the grip fell off suddenly. I took it to a bike park and the knobs got trashed. Disappointing compared to the longevity and consistency of Maxxis.

A floating brake. Those were before my time. Why'd they become a relic of the past?

At 0:45, Tydon's fork seems to disappear, creating an illusion of having some crazy leading link fork.

I like the used market... I like high quality stuff, like heirloom-level stuff, rather than disposable designs. I don't have any compelling personal need to be on the cutting edge. I just have curiosity, and used fits my budget. As much as I'd like to ride a Enduro 2020 on trails I'm familiar with, I don't think I need to become an owner by paying $6000 or whatever, to enjoy that experience, especially if there were a way to rent/demo.

I wonder where all these bike products go. Especially all the shitty placeholder and stepping stone level parts.

Waiting for the follow-up video from that water park's administration. If I were them, I'd be like, you like to make videos? How about you come back in the summer and try it with the water on? Or else...

Things tend to not go away unless conveniently replaced by something better, that is easier to handle and more accessible.

If ebikes were really a way to kick riders of all types off the trail, that'd be a perfect tool for hostile hikers and equestrians. Hiking/horse club buys e-bike and loans it out to do everything you can imagine that would F things up for mtbers...

There's some clear consensus here that suggests that the guys who visit a site like VitalMTB, and other MTB sites and are interested in e-mtbs, are seeking to kick themselves and others off the trail, and make their expensive new ride useless...

MTBers unite to show off how strong our logic is. Motor = gay on trails

*PS, this is satire*

That's an interesting bike in the pic. 29 front, 27.5x3 rear. Custom cover for motor. Unique IS rear brake mount. Looks like an alloy mainframe that had the HT and top tube crafted as 1 piece; welds so smooth that an untrained eye can't tell it's not carbon. I don't doubt that it has unrefined geo and ride quality though.

Sad issue is that mtbers are being hateful and angry on bicycling sites. It's about as futile as someone venting about a rude encounter (ex. hiker yelling where's your bell) or evidence of misbehavior (ex. littered tubes, food waste) on the trail... the people they're wanting to give a piece of their mind to, likely isn't going to read their judgemental rant. Is this the appropriate place for you to initiate your mental support group session?

In short, the people who are likely to be problematic on e-bikes aren't going to read what you say. All the hate and open judgement is doing more bad, making the community look bad, than doing good (ex. for advocacy), even if you're only speaking for yourself.

Added a comment about video Can Danny MacAskill Break the New Santa Cruz Reserve Carbon Wheels? 10/2/2017 10:05 AM

I'm curious if Santa Cruz does lab tests with "oblique" hits, such as a impact that only hits one bead hook, at various angles. All the tests I've seen are fairly square hits.

Doesn't prove anything. It simply illustrates one case scenario. Science is needed for proving. A good experiment raises more questions than it answers, but gives enough info to form a hypothesis. The hypothesis that Danny came to is, how much more it'd take with a properly inflated tire.

Holy cow, they aren't exaggerating with the long and slack. Look at how far the front wheel is from the cranks...

Shame that the complete package is a bit flawed. Always looking to find a good candidate to recommend to newcomers, that won't make them feel scared on the trail, yet is simple and reliable enough to own without needing in-depth mechanical know-how.
