So by your comparison of XTR to GX, you might as well take the next step and say I can't see how XX1 is any better than GX.

I'm quite tired of the finicky b-tension of eagle. I feel like it constantly needs to be adjusted and doesn't hold an adjustment for very long. XTR is...more

You're assuming that SLX lines up to NX, when I don't think any brand is claiming that. These groupsets don't neatly line up to one another and simply ranking them in descending order and claiming they line up isn't accurate.

Shimano XT vs GX Cost (not including driver or crankset)
Cassette $160 - $215
Chain $45 - $33
Shifter $60 - $45
Der $115 - $125
Total $380 - $418

SLX vs NX
Cassette $100 - $100
Chain $32 - $26
Shifter $39 - $42
Der $75 - $107
Total $246 vs $275

I'd say they line up....out of time on here to list all the weights, but that nx cassette weighs almost 100g more than the SLX and has nearly 60%less range.

jeff.brines - I made a few references to "apples to apples" and what I meant there was XTR compared to XX1. I tried to write review assuming most folks to be looking at most of my comments from that point of view. My hope is that people looking to spend money on XTR/XX1/other...more

I’m too lazy to go looking at numbers right now. But seeing as xt and slx are both in stock and ready to order. I’d prefer to see actual comparisons.
XTR vs XX1
XT vs GX
SLX vs NX

The last one seems a bit pointless as NX is one of the most junk drivetrains ever made, IMHO...

Having ridden this stuff myself, albeit short-term tests only, I disagree with the statement that it "doesn't do anything better." The shifting performance under load is impressive, far better than Eagle, and it does also offer 1 extra cog of range. It also seems less sensitive...more

XTR has never been, and will never be, about value for your dollars for a value conscious rider looking to max their experience while minimizing their expenses. So its not fair to hold it to that expectation.
The reviewer is holding it to it's intended standard. Which is being...more

There was less of an outcry, because at the time, people were still on the fence about the whole 1x thing to start with. SRAM did only roll out the license to a select few manufacturers to start with, but it opened it up fairly quickly after that (note that the XD Driver is an...more

The one in mention is praised as a “top tier” machine shop. Yet, some how, they couldn’t figure out how to machine a freehub body compatible with microspline? Numerous much smaller brands have done just fine, Onyx got around it, Ridefast Racing got around it, as well as white industries.
The company in mention needs to either step into the OE market like i9 did and get access to the trade mark, or be creative and put those fancy machines of theirs to use.

When SRAM 1x11 first came out, the XD driver was all-new too, yet that drivetrain was widely praised and credited with ushering in the mass adaptation of the 1x transmission in the MTB world at large. No doubt we'd have much preferred to see wider licensing of the MicroSpline...more

Can get 27.5 and 29 dhf in maxx grip and dd, just not exo+ yet. Not that I’m personally sold on exo+ at this point. Maybe for the front but now I’ve got maxx terra up front and maxx grip in the back....

You're looking at it from a model vs. model perspective, while Scott is looking at it from a brand recognition perspective. They obviously want to have one consistent look across their full-suspension bike offer so when people see any bike from Scott they recognize it as a Scott. While...more

You know what REALLY pisses me off about video edits like this? I end up spending way too much time watching them over and over, ‘cause I’m just not sure I saw what I thought I saw.

Would be curious where the mic is on Brandon or the bike. Tires are plenty loud also, wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the unedited hub noise. Maybe it seems so loud because that Hub is actually that obnoxiously loud...
