sweet ride man! love the black and gold combo. happy shredding
Thanks, appreciate the compliment! I will happily shred it! :D
Great looking bike Paxx. Great taste in suspension and wheel manufacturer. (same as mine lol) This is one of the few bikes I've seen on here that I like as much as my own and I'm picky!! Have fun shredding that beast!
Ha ha thanks! Big compliment, you’ve got a nice ride too!
You know what they say - great minds... :D
Outstanding build Paxx. Very clean, and classy.
Thank you for the compliment. Was trying to keep it simple with quality parts. Appreciate you taking notice!
Did you use heat shrink on the cables?
Yes, great way to keep it clean!
Thank you for restoring sanity to the coffers of Vital BoD Transition builds.
Ha ha you’re welcome
Nice rig. How did you choose between agent and insider rims from WAO on a bike like this?
As with all things, there are trade offs in a build. In this case it came down to weight. I would have preferred the tire profile and strength of the agent but the 3mm difference doesn’t create a drastic difference in profile and with a no questions asked warranty, the strength concerns were mitigated (not that I’m worried - these things are quality!).
At the end of the day I knew I wanted full coil and in order to keep the bikes weight reasonable, I shaved grams elsewhere. Plus I’ve always been a fan of reducing rotating weight anyways. I find it really helps with acceleration and that peppy feeling when you need it. The Exo+ are great in that regard too so far. Regular Exo doesn’t last around here so it’s always been about the DD casing. The + seems to be holding up well and is significantly lighter.
Nice build, how the Revgrips behave on real world? BTW impecable cable routing set up , what do you think about routing the front brake behind the left leg ( ala Marzocchi) ?
The RevGrips work well. It’s not earth shattering but imo it’s worth the money. The movement is subtle enough that you don’t notice it when riding unless you are paying attention to it. That said it moves enough that it is isolating your hands from some of the trail chatter for sure. With the snow this time of year I haven’t had the chance to do full on 45min+ descents yet or park days, but I certainly haven’t noticed any arm pump or hand fatigue on the rides I’ve done so far. I’m definitely happy with them.
And thanks for noticing the cable routing! We spent a long time getting everything just right so there was no rub anywhere. Makes for a nice quiet ride! Plus it just looks so clean - makes my ocd brain happy ha ha!
I’m honored! Pretty stoked to see this featured amongst some of the other incredible builds on here, thanks!
Your bike can definitely hold its head high in the BOD club!
Bike of the Day January 22, 2019!
nice build man. hows the feel on those EXO+ Maxxis ? damped as DD versions ?
Thanks! So far I've been liking the feel of the Exo+, they seem to have good support, yet track well and conform to the terrain a bit better than the DD's. They've also been standing up pretty well to the sharp rocks around here. Regular Exo's don't last very long in my terrain and I think these might be the answer.
It's been a bit difficult to nail down exactly how different they feel due to how new the rest of the bike is, especially with the full coil and the frozen dirt right now, but I like the experience so far.
