Germany Trip

I just finished up a two week trip to Germany. I rolled in and was in for a big surprise. There was record low temperatures and snow. I wasn’t going to be able to shred like I thought, but adapted to the situation and made the best of it. I met up with a long time friend who had recently moved there and we started out with some indoor rock climbing in Ramstein where the shop still had a Kona Stab from 2004 for sale ha ha! I took a guided tour to Frankenstein castle with lots of sights on the way. The driver ended up getting stuck on a narrow icy road and I had to get that cute little car out for him ha ha! We went to Mannheim and took the train for a night out on the town. In the morning we went and explored a park where my friend had seen some dirt jumpers rolling around in the past. We ended up discovering a dirt jump and skate park in the back. Of course it was in terrible condition, but we were glad to find something and did what we could with our shovel and broom to session it up. By the following weekend the weather had lifted a bit and we cruised on down to Heidelberg and did some urban and downhill. We had to work by going up with no shuttle, and the way down was very green trail, or fire road like as it started to snow. But hey, I was in Germany, on a bike, and looking at some great scenery. So even though I didn’t get to do some grade A riding, the trip was a success. Maybe I’ll have to come back in the summer someday and do some epic resort riding.
