I wonder if they'll actually perform maintenance on their trails this year. Maybe they'll open a new trail instead of just close old ones.

The Real Reality check...Northstar does perform trail maintenance. Look at the dirt they are working with. It's inevitable that it'll be blown out. Unless you spend dough on watering daily or put in Human meat graders it'll always be Gnarstar. It's not Whistler, it doesn't rain every day, despite the haters they'll still be in the lift line the next day.

Updawg, lets be real. They half ass it, at best. No new trails since 2008 (I think)? Trails getting more and more beat each year, fewer trails open at the end of last year than the year before, almost no new features of note. With Mammoth only a few hours away, and the local DH trails that put anything at the bike park to shame, Northstar is becoming the joke of California bike parks. The dirt excuse was pathetic 5 years ago, and is more pathetic today.

They need to stop trying to milk cash out of a dying asset and actually invest some money. Northstar is less than 3 hours away from one of the largest metropolitan areas of MTB riders, 40 minutes away from an international airport, has a long riding season, and in the recreation paradise of the western hemisphere. The fact that it isn't Whistler (or better) is a tragedy. Sure it's still fun, kinda. But it could be worlds better.

Fair weather Biker?
Who cares if it's dusty, expand your riding terrain. It all can't be loamy UCSC dirt.
And plus, where else would you go for lift access boiiii

I'm not afraid of earning my turns, whether it's pushing a bike or pushing a gas pedal. I've just never really enjoyed Northstar. They put in work, but never quite enough, and in my opinion, never quite right. When I think about going, it rarely seems worth the drive and expense. I'd rather spend a bit more time and money and just go to Mammoth. And anyway, it sucks in the fair weather. I prefer it in foul weather.
