Snowbird's new Big Mountain Trail runs through some of the most scenic high alpine terrain Utah has to offer. A 7.5 mile long, 2,900 vertical foot adventure is just one tram ride away.

I've ridden it from the bottom twice. It's NOT a DH mountain bike trail. It's an alpine mountain bike trail, and a sweet one. Anyone looking for a DH-specific trail needs to look elsewhere. I see other trails being built on the mountain, so one day Snowbird may be a place for DH bikes, but it's not there yet. The climb up this trail is one of the best in the Wasatch, though. The DH is fun, just not "flowey" or "sick" with lots of nice berms and jumps. XC, Trail, and AM riders I think will really like this trail, but DH & FRers for now are better served elsewhere. However, it'll be super sick to link this up with the LCDH for a mega long run to the bottom of the canyon. MD out......

Bummer, sounds like it's another increasingly typical "Flow" trail Fail. So much work goes into them and 95% of the time they suck. What ever happened to making singletrack???

Are you guys seriously complaning about a 7.5 mile DH? It looks pretty raw and not so buffed out! Nice tight switchbacks. Sounds like you guys skills can't handle simple things like this then. Aren't you riding Mtn bikes? I say yes to chunky switch back. Fast sections with baby heads. You guys sound like a bunch of pampered groomed park riiders. parks need more raw trails like this. This reminds me a bit of TOTW in Whislter little less rocks but just long flow raw dh.

So, I get what you're saying and I agree that more bike parks need more natural terrain. I am super happy Snowbird has done this and am excited to see a new trail. However, you have to consider Snowbird only has like two trails... You have to pay about $30.00 to ride the tram. That is all fine, but Utah has TONS of riding options that are better, so we are a bit spoiled. I know "better" is a relative term, but if you like park, natural, raw or anything in between, you can find better riding in the same amount of time to get to the bird.. and it is free or the same price for more options..

That being said, am I going to fork out $30 to ride it.... well yes, because I like biking new trails and it will be awesome..

I feel bad for Snowbird. They spent tons of money, dug up (an ruined, in some people's opinion) some beautiful scenery, hired an "expert" trail building crew, and ended up with this mess.

Go ride American Fork Canyon, the Crest, or the PC resorts. Even Sundance. Pass on this trail.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade but it is 7.5 miles of chunky switchbacks. I was totally disappointed. Maybe after a few seasons it will improve but it was no fun. No stunts, jumps with baby head landings, way too tight berms... Better luck next time. Stay at The Canyons or PCMR.

I can't disagree, but we should be excited that Snowbird is seeing the value in mountain biking, and get excited that this could lead to bigger things from them. The terrain that is available there could lead to incredible things, so let's speak up and encourage them to not give up and help them get better!
