First Look: Specialized's Fast Rolling Slaughter Tire 14

If you're as big of a fan of Specialized tires as we are, you'll be happy to see this new addition to their lineup. Created in the name of speed, the Slaughter offers riders a super fast rolling, low profile tire that still has tall side knobs for reliable bite in corners. It's aimed at the gravity and all-mountain disciplines and intended to be used as a rear tire, though some
may find it suitable up front as well. Ideal conditions are hardpack and intermediate soil.

The Slaughter will be available in 2.3 x 650B (27.5) and 2.3 x 29-inch sizes. For the DH version, a 70a base compound and 42a top compound make for a fast, yet grippy tire. Dual-ply 60tpi casing and butyl sidewall reinforcement pads offer pinch flat protection. The GRID 2BR version provides all-mountain riders with a 2Bliss design with additional construction features to prevent cuts and to stiffen the sidewalls. Control level keeps a robust construction and weight to a minimum.

Pricing is expected to be comparable to the popular Specialized Butcher tire, with the Control at $55, GRID 2BR at $60, and DH at $80. You'll likely see this one under Specialized's Pro Enduro and DH racers at select events this year.
