Keeping his winning streak alive with another Fontana victory! Here's the official press release from Shimano

Team KHS DH riders dominate dry and windy conditions!

IRVINE, Calif. (February 23, 2013) – Regardless of the conditions it’s Team KHS/Shimano riders Kevin Aiello and Logan Binggeli who continue to dominate the top two spots in the hotly contested Pro Men’s Downhill. The hero dirt of the last two events is a distant memory as todays downhill was classic dry Fontana conditions with wind gusts likely up to 50 mph! The relatively short challenging course will make riders pay dearly for mistakes and in these conditions it’s very hard not to make mistakes which makes it all the more impressive at the consistency Team KHS/Shimano has shown.

Speaking of consistency one cannot not forget about Southridge USA Pro Waylon Smith who race after race finds himself on the Fontana podium in both DH and Super D. Waylon finished 3rd in the DH and won the Super D the day before. Coming in 4th was 19 year old World Cup rider Kyle Sanger from Ontario Canada. Rounding out the podium was One Ghost rider Art Babcock who is also planning a world cup schedule for 2013.

Aside from the impressive rides of Team KHS there were a few other classes making some serious noise. Team Southridge USA Vet Pro rider Joe Picchiottino crushed his field with a time of 2:06.12 that would have actually been good for 4th in the Pro Men category! Another class that is turning heads is the Jr. Ex class that once again had extremely close competitive times. In fact the top two Jason Schroeder and McKay Vezina were so fast that their times of 2:05.43 and 2:05.60 were both faster than the pro men’s 4th place!

The pro women’s winner Luana Oliveira put in an incredible time of 2:16.92 which was more than 10 seconds faster than second place rider Anneke Beerten who is a 4X World Champion.

The next race is March 10. Shimano is excited to offer neutral support at each Winter Series event. This is the 6th year in a row that Shimano has supported the popular grass roots style events out at Southridge Park in Fontana. Race promoter Donny Jackson continues to offer the Shimano kid’s races on Saturday which is usually around 11:30 on Saturdays after the XC and before the Super D event.
