The downhill course of Mont-Sainte-Anne leaves everyone battered after the first day of practice...and that's how we like it!

We were sure that Loic Bruni was the fastest man on the highway section and the results proved it. 4:08.007 and 75.8kph (47.1mph)! @maddogboris
Finn Iles has the Junior title wrapped up so is pushing for an Elite podium time this race. -Sven Martin
Foot out, flat out - there couldn't be a more ideal section for Blenki to show off his loose style than here. Great to see his time up in 11th spot today while actually winning practice. -Dan Hearn
Matt Walker was charging hard from his first run aboard his new prototype 29er. It may be just training but only 2 seconds separate Finn and Matt. -Dan Hearn
Golden light below the inversion for the first gondola up. -Sven Martin
Trek Factory Racing truck driver, Gareth Brewin, has no truck to drive in Canada, so he is racing the World Cup. @maddogboris
Brendan can do these in his sleep now, even when the lips and landing don't quite line up. -Sven Martin
Mark Wallace displays the brutality. @maddogboris
Aaron Gwin turned it on a few times today which is always a sign he's ready and rearing to go fast in the race! -Sven Martin
Graeme Mudd ninth fastest in timed training. He loves the speed and wide open gravity-fed track. -Sven Martin
Eddie masters the epitome of living life to the fullest on and off the bike. -Sven Martin
Rise and shine. Coffee-side racing and track-side spectacting. -Andy Vathis
Tracey Hannah didn't put together a full timed training run, so we can't tell how the numbers stack up - but on track she looked aggressive and fast. -Dan Hearn
Eva Battolla drops into the modified start this year. -Sven Martin
Mr Min, twenty time's a charm here at MSA. Unbelievable. -Sven Martin
After a nightmarish journey from the UK and arriving only this morning, Phil Atwill had to do a track walk at the start of his practice session. That didn't stop him clearing all the doubles! -Dan Hearn
So impressive to see Phil Atwill with the 14th fastest run of the day after being on the road for 2 days to get here. Rest up Phil and bring the thunder tomorrow! -Dan Hearn
Troy Brosnan had some very fast top splits in timed training but didn't put together a full run to compare times. He was certainly not holding back through this crazy high speed section! -Dan Hearn
Brraappp! Kaos Seagrave. No glove, all love. @maddogboris
Bryn Dickerson styling it up over the shark fin hip. -Dan Hearn
Mudd staying out of the mud in the forest. -Sven Martin
Brook Macdonald smashing rocks and railing ruts out here like he usually does when the going gets rough. -Sven Martin
Loris Vergier had a crash or two in practice but still recorded the fourth fastest time. -Sven Martin

Second fastest time for Danny Hart, just 1.25 seconds behind Loic Bruni. @maddogboris
Tahnee Seagrave lets it fly. @maddogboris
Loic loving the ludicrous speed. Fastest in timed runs. @maddogboris
A flash of Finn: there's no missing that kit against the forest backdrop. -Dan Hearn
Jerome Caroly with a lot of steeezzze over the sharkfin on his first run. @maddogboris
Late braking and plowing through rough ground at warp speed: Gwin knows a thing or two about these things. -Dan Hearn
New media, team Bernard Kerr with his supporter Connor Fearon. Where are my new Tinder photos Bernard? @maddogboris

Aaron Gwin was seen with some interesting lines and massive speed. 48th place in timed training has nothing to say, we guess?! @maddogboris
Shadow game, inspired by @andyvathis. @maddogboris
Bad Luck for CRC rider, Elliott Heap. The airline lost his bike and when you look closer you will notice an orange Kona Operator. No worries with the 15th fastest time for him!
Some rain overnight before practise started meant a slippery track for the first riders but a great track by the time the top racers got on the track. -Sven Martin
Today umbrellas were for the sun. Tomorrow it will be for the rain come afternoon. -Sven Martin
It's pretty normal to see cloud inversions here in the morning after rainy evenings in Mt Ste Anne. -Sven Martin
