Greg Minnaar has stopped to analyze the lines and options more than I have ever seen him do before. I mistakenly thought he was not comfortable on the track. He proved me wrong today, that's for sure. Fastest timed run. -Sven Martin

The timestamp for this photo was 7:26am and the women's practice was coming to a close in the cold, pre-sun light. Emmeline Ragot rides fast, unaware of the upcoming, unsavoury end to her day. -Duncan Philpott
Terrible end to the season for Emmeline Ragot who had a big crash and looks to have broken her hand. We know she's bummed, and we're bummed for her, too. -Sven Martin
Despite the abundance of crash matting, you can't be lured into a false sense of security thanks to the sharp-edged rocks and awkward roots. None of this phased Danny Hart, however, since he pinned it with the second fastest time. #gordoapproved -Duncan Philpott

Interval sprints today, switching spots whenever the sun peaked out. Johannes Von Klebelsberg coming in hot. -Duncan Philpott
I'm sure Joe Smith would rather be kicking up dust between the tape. Unfortunately peaking late in the season means he's now on hand to help Sam get that win. -Duncan Philpott
Without Stevie Smith present, Nigel Reeve has to finds other ways to occupy himself. -Duncan Philpott
The XC can appeal to most if you give it a chance. Those guys have serious skills and fitness which even DH World Champs can appreciate. -Duncan Philpott
Andrew Crimmins doesn't realize the rock-n-roll-tongue-out-tuck is totally anti-aero. I mean, you never saw Gene Simmons on the top of a World Champs podium, did you? We will get to see who's on the podium in just a few short hours, however, so stay tuned to Vital for the action! -Duncan Philpott

Description
The last day of survival before the 2014 Mountain Bike World Championship Downhill race was full of secrets and surprises. Since there is no qualifying or seeding for the Elite racers at World Champs, today's timed training run was the only true gauge of speed we've seen from the Elite racers all week. Greg Minnaar and Danny Hart took the top 2 spots in the Men's class while Rachel Atherton went fastest in the Women's class. The Top 10 men were only separated by about 3-seconds and most racers agree there is a lot of time to be taken out of the course. We'll know just how much soon enough. Until then, enjoy the photo, video and interview gems from Sven Martin, Duncan Philpott, Joe Bowman and Boris Beyer.
