Mitch Ropelato's back on the big bike and making the best of it with a win on the day. Will we see him racing World Cup Downhill next year? We hope so.
The Queen of Mammoth, Jill Kintner, on her way to victory, sealing her spot as the 2015 ProGRT overall champion. #unstopable
Palmer Development Team rider and Cat 1 Junior winner, Steven Walton. Expect to see the young 15 year old racing Juniors in the World Cup next year, alongside his teammate, Warren Kniss. #USA
Bryn Atkinson bringing some style to the table. With his 4th place finish, Bryn secured himself the overall title for the 2015 ProGRT series. Mitch in the audio.
With a 7AM start to race day, even the lifties were catching Z's whenever they could.
The Junior riders were first down the mountain, bright and early. Tyler Krenek holds 'er wide open between the woods.
Junior rider Austin Fotinos blazing through the Mammoth pumice as he enters the first corner of the three and a half minute track.
Warren Kniss making light work of the infamous Bullet rockgarden. 5th place for the young gun in Juniors.
Jacqueline Thomas was one of the few Pro Women to attempt this drop. Unfortunately, she came in a bit too wide and washed the front, resulting in a pretty big off. That didn't stop her from finishing in 5th place.
#Ouch
Mid-track stash?
Cam Zink taking no mercy on the Mammoth rocks.
Stats check: we camped at this spot for 20 minutes. 47 attempts, 11 unsuccessful. Even riders who played it safe and double dropped it, rather than completely gap the section, still fell victim to the deep pumice landing.
Luca Cometti somehow managing to corner with both wheels off the ground, floating himself into 3rd place.
Jason Schroeder was looking fast all week, but unfortunately, he didn't have the race run he was looking for with a crash and flat during finals. #doubledown
Dry, dusty and blown out all from top to bottom. No problem for SoCal native Cole Picchiottino, who slid his way onto the podium with a 5th place finish.
Kovarik bringing some seismic activity back to Mammoth as he roared down the mountain. Be careful, this volcano is technically still active.
Cam Zink streaking by.
Austin Warren keeping it low on his way to an 11th place finish.
Last man down the hill, Logan Binggeli, landed less than a second off the pace and into the #2 spot for finals, securing him a 3rd place finish in the ProGRT overall. Mitch in the audio.
Your Pro Women's podium: Jill Kintner, Kim Godfrey, Samantha Kingshill & Jacqueline Thomas (not pictured).
Pro Men's podium: Mitch Ropelato, Logan Binggeli, Luca Cometti, Bryn Atkinson & Cole Picchiottino.
ProGRT Series overall: Bryn Atkinson, Kiran Mackinnon & Logan Bingeli.
Bryn and Jill, the most winning couple in downhill. A big THANK YOU to both of them, as well as all the others, who have worked hard all year to bring a competitive race series to the states in an effort to build U.S. tallent.
